We stumbled across Caffe Roma which isn't in the centre but just a few metres up one of the roads that leads to the centre. The people were very friendly, and the meal was lovely. The sign outside was advertising panini etc, which made me wonder if it was just a glorified sandwhich place. However, the meal we had (two bowls of beautiful pasta, a vino, and 2 bottles of water, was nothing like you would expect from a bar that does panini only. The pasta was first class, and we ate out the front in the shade (others were in the sun watching people walk down to the centre. The whole thing cost €14, including the vino (which was excellent . The prices down at the piazza in the centre were much much more, and I doubt the meal would have been any better. I thought it was excellent value.
We had some difficulty ordering as out Italian is not quite good enough and the specials of the day were oral. But a nice cosy little cafe off the castle near the main square. Very friendly and helpful staff. We had pasta?primos only and that was plenty for lunch.
Fast service. Good cocktails. cut of aperitif good and substantial.
