La Barcarolle - Vienne

We came in very late on a Sunday afternoon without reservation, but managed to get served lunch nonetheless, for which we were incredibly thankful. This place is a wine bar, so they do sharing platters and snacking plates, but I highly recommend their food as well. My partner went with duck tajine, while I chose the Basque style chicken and my goodness, the sauces of both dishes were incredibly delicious! The bread served up to mop the sauces up with was really good too soft and fluffy on the inside, with a crunchy crust, served hot. Of course as a wine bar, there's an impressive selection of bottles to choose from. If you choose to BYO there is a corkage fee of 10 euros, but why would you, when they offer such a vast range of local wines to taste? Having been to a few wine and jazz festivals, and visited some winemakers in Vienne, we recognised a few very good bottles on the shelf. Lovely ambiance with jazz music played at the right level, couches inviting you to linger, definitely a place to visit while in Vienne.
