Contribuiți la feedbackI've been several times since it opened in Langford. Second to none, amazing food. It really is delicious.
We came here because of a recommendation from a friend. We arrived and were greeted and sat quickly. The decor was pretty nice - a mix of modern with some east Indian style decor as well. There are booths and tables. There was only 2 other tables dining when we arrived at around 6:30pm on a Tuesday. A lot of takeout though and we overheard the server explaining to a takeout guest that they were "really backed up." This sent us a few alarm bells, and we hoped it wouldn't mean a long wait for dinner. We ordered. The server was friendly enough. Despite our initial fear of a long wait due to a back log of takeout, we got our food pretty quickly. I ordered my favourite Indian vegetarian option: Aloo Gobhi. (potatoes and cauliflower in an onion and tomato spice sauce/curry.) You can choose to have it mild, medium, or hot. I got mild as i'm a pansy with spice and it still had a bit of a kick but not enough to burn my face off. Most entrees come with rice. Breads/naan is extra. My meal was pretty tasty. It reminded me of the food my best friend's Mom used to make for us when i'd go to her house as a kid. Authentic and tasty. My dining companion ordered the mulligatawny. She loved it. It was rich and creamy. Again, no bread (would have been nice to have it come with bread as most soups do) but it was filling on it's own. One of the other tables dining in had a few small children that were making a ruckus. Not the restaurants fault, but it really impacted how long we stayed. A large group came in shortly after we received out food and they too had some small children who decided that running around the tables and crawling UNDER tables was a fun game. The high ceilings of the restaurant just made their squeeling so much louder - it was very unpleasant. There was no music playing either to help try to cover up their loudness. Again, this isn't anything about the restaurant really, but like i said it prevented us from wanting to stay to try dessert or have a chai tea or lassi after our meals. (and please let this be a reminder to families to control your children. I understand they make noise sometimes, but if they are yelling at the top of their lungs and crawling under tables and being holy terrors, maybe get them back in line...) Anyway, I might come back if i'm craving Indian food, or opt for takeout. The lunch buffet might be worth checking out, too. If I do dine in again I will probably come later in the evening, in hopes that I avoid screaming children next time. Overall, i'd rate it GOOD. Not OMG you MUST try this food, but it is good Indian food if you are in the mood and live in the area.
I love their new location at Uptown. The service is always good. This is the best place for authentic Indian food. My favorites are butter chicken, pakoras, and naan.
As a cocktail enthusiast I was plenty surprised by the new and improved drink list at Sizzling Tandoor. A few honourable mentions would be the Tumeric Sour and their take on the classic Moscow Mule. Very good price point as well!
Love the butter chicken. I have had the chance to visit all three locations and enjoy them all very much. Food is consistently delicious. Staff are friendly and efficient and always make my friends and myself feel welcome
