Contribuiți la feedbackMy friend suggested to come to Sen Zushi as it's one of her favourite restaurants in town. It is a Japanese operated Japanese restaurant with delicate details. The décor was traditionally Japanese. It was quiet with nice ambiance. The server was very friendly and polite. She checked on us for tea from time to time. We ordered the dinner combo bento box so we can try a little of everything. Mine was the assorted sashimi and my friend's was the sautéed fish. It came with miso soup, shrimp sunomono salad, assorted tempura, baked oyster, sushi and a bowl of white rice. The sashimi was very fresh. The tempura was not very greasy. The wasabi was spicy with the actual kick. My friend liked her sautéed fish also. Overall, everything was quite delicious. After finishing our food (couldn't finish the rice), we were too full to try their dessert.
Coming from Vancouver, there's not much to be excited about in Victoria regarding Asian food. I've tried countless forgettable sushi places in town. This one is probably the best sushi spot in Victoria. Can be a lil pricey nigiri/sashimi wise. Servers were super nice too.
THIS REVIEW IS FOR ONE VISIT ONLY! To be clear, I visit SenZushi often and it is always fantastic. Then why the one star, jerknuts? Well, I am particularly disappointed with my most recent experience, and I thought one star might draw attention to that. Let me explain. I had a brutal day at work where I made a mistake that could potentially cost me my job. I didn 't feel like cooking, nor did I feel like thinking. So, I went to SenZushi, my favourite restaurant in town, and ordered omakase. Expecting to be presented with an assortment of delights, I was instead asked what I wanted. Well, having ordered omakase, I expected the chef would decide, not me. I said Surprise me! I like all the raw stuff, all the cooked stuff, all the weird stuff, everything! I even like natto! More questions. Do you want nigiri, sashimi? I want omakase. I finally just say that I 'm hungry and want sushi. My plate arrives. 8-piece nigiri. All excellent. I finish and wait for more. Nothing. The server cones by after ten minutes and asks if I would like anything else. I say, Yes. More. She gives me a menu. SenZushi is great, and perhaps this experience is a result of living in a place that is entirely clueless about Japanese cuisine, but this, this was not omakase. This has made my terrible day worse. I will be back, SenZushi, but not for a while, and I will not order omakase. UPDATE: Well, I thought the last one was a one off, butvthe nigiri they served me tonight was complete garbage. I 'm posting the picture. It 's just the ugliest piece of sushi I 've ever seen in my life.
Pretty good Japanese restaurant. The tempura is really awesome which you don't want to miss that! Shrimp, white fish are 5 star recommended! Tuna don is also really good the sauce is tasty and the rice is sweet and fluffy. Tako-Wasa is also something you don't want to miss if you are a super fan of wasabi like me. However here are the disadvantages. First, the nigiri are not fresh enough. Also the fish on top are too lean. I believe the fatty fish might be more juicy. Second, the restaurant has no WiFi which is pretty inconvenient.
Great place if you wan a nice atmosphere and great selection of Japanese sakes. Make sure to order their sashimi and nigiri since this is a place with fresh fish! Their teriyaki and chicken nabban is good too for those who don't eat raw fish.
