Contribuiți la feedbackI absolutely adored this place. The vibrant display of pastries outside caught my eye from the street, and once inside, the atmosphere was just as inviting. Despite already being full from dinner at another restaurant nearby, we couldn't resist stopping in. We ended up getting a fruit tea, a strawberry cheesecake, and a lemon tart to go. The French couple who served us were incredibly friendly and helped us choose our treats. We savored each pastry over the next few days at home, and they were all delicious without being overly sweet. I'm not usually a dessert person, but I will definitely be returning for more. If you have trouble deciding on just one pastry, they also offer mini versions where you can choose three for the price of one regular pastry.
I said Cho Pain is average. That's easy because I had mixed visits. Overall, I think the place is great. Many beautiful cakes and pastries displayed in shiny glass cabinets. You can see stacks of croissants ready to bake in the back. Fine. Sometimes I feel but the service lacks shine. The people at the time until it shy. Yesterday the server forgot to give my friend his change, not a big deal, but then she gave her absent mindfulness to her colleagues who asked her a question while she served us. I worked in cafes so I know it can be stressful. I probably forgot to give people their change more often than they, but the people generally do not mind (presumed they get it back). Anyway, this is a very small thing. Other times I just found the staff a little cold.. The vegetarian and the salmon sandwiches are both brilliant. I didn't try the onion soup because the only time I tied them didn't have them. One day I will try! It is also one of the few places in Vancouver I have found that gives you a pot of tea!
However, a major drawback of this establishment is the owner, who is incredibly racist and mistreats employees. I witnessed him humiliating staff in front of customers, which was upsetting to see. It is definitely worth considering boycotting this restaurant due to the unethical behavior of the owner.
My wife and I both had a wonderful breakfast at this restaurant. The croissants were fantastic - buttery and flaky, with a variety of flavors to choose from including plain, almond, chocolate, and ham. The mini baguette served with butter and jam was also delicious. They had a good selection of quiches to choose from as well. The Cappuccino and Café Latte were excellent. We also bought various petit fours and cakes to bring back to our friends and family.
Good breakfast fare, reasonably priced.__We go for breakfast every couple of weekends.
