Smokey's - VICTOR

This place definitely surprised me with exceptional food and service. Absolute mouth gasm with each course and food come with perfect timing. Great atmosphere and views.

Better then recent reviews lead me to believe! Food was hot and reasonably priced for the food provided. Brie fondue bowl was delicious. Wagu burger had a nice grilled flavor and beef tips were tender. Great service was provided by Leland ! Very attentive to drink refills, didn?t rush us to place an order. The deck provided a nice view and atmosphere. The young men who brought the food to the tables seemed to be confused on table numbers. Multiple times they were lost as to which table they were to be delivering the food to. Definitely worth a try.

Exceptional views and exceptional dining. It is rare to find a place surrounded by awe-inspiring views, exceptional service and world class entrees. The Surf and Turf was the tenderest, most perfectly cooked steak I have ever eaten and the ginormous shrimp artfully balanced on top brought the art of plating to a master chef level. The asparagus was cooked to perfection. We ate outside on a covered balcony with rain dripping and pouring, in a group of about 60, yet each steak came out hot, perfectly cooked and with amazing presentation. Shamefully after eating my fill of steak and sides I had a huge portion of blackberry cobbler served out of a cast iron frying pan, it too was the best. A few steps away were world class views of New River Gorge. That night the bridge was shrouded in clouds with lightning flashing overhead. An exquisite all around experience.

However, our experience at Smokey's has unfortunately taken a downturn. What was once an amazing gourmet dining experience has transformed into a buffet-style breakfast reminiscent of Shoney's, but with prices that still reflect the restaurant's former high standards. After they switched from a chef-prepared buffet to a menu, the quality of the food suffered considerably. It's disappointing, as Smokey's used to be one of the best places to eat in the state.

If you're visiting the New River Gorge area, you'll discover a wonderful dining spot. Enjoy a sunset dinner on the stunning outdoor deck. The food is delicious, the service is quick and friendly, making for an excellent culinary experience.
