A lovely location just away from the busy tourist area, with about 12 or so tables outside, nestled between 2 buildings. We arrived at about 1930 and were sat outside at a table for 4. The service was very good, order taken promptly, drinks arrived soon after and then the delicious main course. The food was really, really good and very reasonably priced. No pressure to vacate the table after we had finished our food. Lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended.
We waited a long time to be seated even though there were only 6 other people there. Then we waited a long time for the menus, and yes another long wait before being asked what we wanted to order. it was a strange experience. He took one of our orders and started to walk away. We called to him so the other could order. He seemed surprised, said he would have to be right back, went to the kitchen and emerged a couple of minutes later and started the order over. Our cheese plate was OK, but nothing I would ever order again. We were almost finished with it before they brought our water. We were finished with it when they finally brought our wine (after literally flagging the owner down twice about it). Then they brought the incorrect salad out (with tuna which we do not like). The owner was very, very rude about it and made quite the fuss while shaking his head and muttering under his breath. He agreed to take it away and finally brought one out without tuna, but we were over half way done with our entrees. The food was good, but the wait and the horrible attitude ruined the meal for us. We kept asking for our check, and he made a point to walk by us multiple times without looking our way. Finally he said to go inside to pay. When we went inside, no one was there to check us out and we never saw the bill. He finally sauntered in and quoted a total which seemed high, but we were ready to be done with the meal and him. There are too many good restaurants in Verona to visit this establishment.
On the night we visited this lovely restaurant we had actually planned to go somewhere else; we are so glad that we changed our minds after eating here. We had walked past the street and spotted the ‘fairy lights’ hanging and the place looked really quaint and inviting. It was quiet as a few couples were just leaving after enjoying their meals, and the waiter really looked after us. We had Tagliatelle to start; one in wild boar stew and one with asparagus and mushrooms, both of which were divine. We had beef steak and cod with polenta as second courses, and again both dishes were superb. Together with a couple of locally brewed ales and a quarter of very nice wine the cost was very reasonable for such as lovely meal. The waiter told us about the origin of the ales and talked to us about the home-cooked pasta. We would definitely recommend this place.
Voto 5 stelle meritatissimo! Mi dispiace solo non aver fatto tante foto.....pensavo solo a mangiare.
