Match Eatery & Public House - Vernon

My wife and I ate there for the first time ever. Our first impression wasn't great. When we walked through the door, the young female host didn't deal with us properly. Instead of taking us to our table, she dealt with 4 different groups all at once. Confusing.However, our regular server made up for it. She was bubbly, informative and engaging. She did a terrific job. In terms of the food, we had the fish tacos to start (shared). They were decent but not great. For my main I had the tuna/mango salad and it was good as well. My wife had the caeser. There was too much salad dressing on her salad.Overall it was a good experience.

4 of us went there Aug 13th at 430 p.m for an early supper. Place looked nice on outside. Walked in and there was a sign to wait to be seated, we waited and waited and waited. Could see staff coming and going, no one looked our way. Finally I waved a girl from bar side over and asked if we could just go get a table she said she would seat us. So sat at table on restaurant side. Saw four female servers and one male walking here and there. Waved a girl over, she gave us menus and said would be right back to take our drink orders. Waited and waited and waited again. She came back we asked if there were any drink specials she said the bacon ceaser that was reg 15 on for 11. In the drink menu we saw a bacon one for 9 and reg for 7, we thought maybe a giant one so never mind. Later we heard male waiter tell a table the bacon Caesar was on special from 9 to 7, we would have gotten that and he also told that table bud was on special for 5 which my husband would have gotten. So we finally got our drinks from the female waitress the same time the male brought our food, they both leave. We have no cutlery or napkins. We had asked for water please at the beginning and when we ordered our drinks, nothing yet. We stop a different waitress and ask for utensils and salt and pepper. She tells the male and he tosses them on our table saying, here and keeps going. My son gets up to go find salt and pepper. Food was ok, not great but not bad. Waitress leans over till to ask us, you want anything else? My son was missing the ketchup with his fish and chips, I shared mine. So then we get our bill and our water finally. Easily the most unorganized staff I have ever seen, our waitress so not interested and didn't seem at all trained. Bad experience for average food. Asked around and others had similar issues. Wont be back. Oh and was not busy, maybe 1/3 full, lots of empty tables

Great food and service. Burger was ok but the oink oink wow!! Great patio comfortable and bonus it's attached to the casino

We were tired of the same old establishments in Vernon, so we went to Match for dinner. It was really busy, and our server informed us that she was also training. HOWEVER, the servers (Ashley and Adam) were friendly and very attentive and kept our drinks full. The manager came out to apologize as one of our plates was delivered to the wrong table, and offered if she could get us an appetizer in the mean time. We declined as we were happy that the duo. As a customer service stickler, I may wanna say that it's amazing to receive above-and-beyond service. Our food arrived piping hot and, to be honest, was one of the best meals I've had. Had the blackened chicken meal with potatoes and green beans and beets. As the service was spectacular, we each ordered a dessert. If you're pondering a sweet treat, all I can say is 'sticky toffee pudding.' Is the third time we've been here and after this evening it's going to be our first choice for dining out. Thank you!

I went to eat at Match with a group of friends (5 adults and 3 kids) and I was so disappointed. When we arrived we had to wait to be seated for about 10 min (with no one in line in front of us)....that's when we should have turned around and leave. It took a total of 1h45 to get our meal and during that time the waitress found the time to bring me just two cokes.... once the meals arrived they were ok but nothing impressive. We politely complained about the wait and the manager came to say he was sorry for the wait. Nothing more, nothing less. When the bills came, everything was on it. No comp, no discount, nothing. Needless to say that I will not be back. The waitress did explain that the restaurant was busy and the kitchen just reopened the previous week after renovation but still. The only reason I didn't give a 1 star is that in all fairness, the food wasn't horrible (or maybe I was just starving after the 1h45 wait...).
