Contribuiți la feedbackThe setting is lovely. The grass runs down to the large lake. The fish and chips are good but the roast beef sunday lunch was very poor to my taste. I like my beef rare but I suspect that the mainly British clientele prefer well done. When I asked how the beef was cooked I was told not to worry, It was well cooked ! Draft beer makes a welcome change. Most sundays they have live music with many of the old favorite songs. Over all a very pleasant experience we are now more selective with our food.
Lovely staff and lovely food in a peaceful setting with a real pub feeling absolutely fab, good called gorgeous by the staff absolutely love it love jossie
Waited for our food for over an hour only to be told they had forgotten to send our order to the kitchen! Lovely setting but best to bring a picnic.
Started badly, when they tried to sit five of us around a two-foot square table for dinner. Although we had reserved, we had to fetch our own bigger table from the grassed area and even then the waitresss wanted to take the parasol away with the small table leaving us with no shade, we had to clean the table ourselves with a single wet wipe the waitress handle to us. She then said that there were no fried dishes other than the chips as the oil shortage meant that they could only use one frier for chips. Scampi and battered fish were off the menu. We couldn't order chicken pie with chips, as that only came with mash, although the mash was served in a separate bowl so wouldn't have been too difficult to adapt to chips. We then waited over an hour for the meal, well actually only four plates out of five as they had missed one meal completely! When we pointed out that we had no cutlery, they said that they would get some. Halfway through the meal we again asked where the 5th plate of food was and for some cutlery (we were sharing 2 forks). Only to be told that they had run out of cutlery and would have to wash some up. And they would try to find the last plate of food of sole meunier and chips, I know where it was hiding, from the state of it when it did arrive, in the microwave, yuck. There was no apology regarding the 20 minute delay for the last plate of food and lack of cutlery for the majority of our meal. We then saw that others were being served the scampi that we had been denied. All in all mediocre food at best, served with sullen laissez faire attitude. On the plus side, it was a lovely sunny day and the musicians who we had come too see were brilliant as ever.
It's a pleasure to have a chicken curry and enjoy a beer outside in late september. The waitress who did me a favour by speaking English to me was charming. I wish we had come at night because I would have enjoyed a gig.One friend had fish and chips and said it was the real thing Wish the best to all of you.
