Contribuiți la feedbackWe had a birthday lunch here with 12 people and had a brilliant time. The staff were very accommodating of the different guest requirements around the table with food and drinks arriving without delay. Everyone enjoyed themselves and the birthday cake was much appreciated! Good atmosphere and high quality food and service.
This restaurant has a beautiful setting and could be great. But it has the rudest staff, extremely high prices and is best avoided. There are so many better places to have lunch on the slopes of Verbier. A bottle of water costs 10 francs and of course they don't serve any free water which most other restaurants do, especially when you also order other drinks. The meat is nearly 60 francs and that includes a simple breaded veal and chips. Desserts are 15. Crazy. To then be either ignored or/and shouted at is just terrible. Please people save yourselves a visit! I just wished I had read the other reviews before I went!
I decided to take my wife for lunch at the Cuckoos Nest as I wanted to enjoy the sunny terrace. I was aware that the restaurant was expensive but expected the experience to be worth it. Upon arrival we were dispatched by the owner to a waitress who led us to our table. We ordered drinks and food but we're disappointed that they would not serve tap water and insisted on selling bottled water only. We felt the staff really didn't wish to be serving us and found it difficult to attract thier attention even though the restaurant was relatively empty. The food was ok but on the pricey side. We asked for our bill and waited 10 minutes with no bill arriving. We asked again with no response and then asked a third time to the anouyance of the waiter. When it arrived they had added drinks that we had not ordered. When we raised this with the waitress clearly querying the bill the male waiter shouted at us, as he walked by, insisting we get up and go and speak to the manager as if it was our problem not his. I was clearly rather taken aback but went to the managers bar area to raise my query. The manager would barely acknowledge my presence when I pointed out they had added drinks we had not had. He discussed it with both the male and female waitress whilst ignoring me. The male waitress then reluctantly crosses out the drinks and I settle by card. No one apologised for there mistake (which I suspect they added on purpose) and didn't make any eye contact with me or even hand me the receipt. I was really shocked at the destain they they treated me with. My I suggest that you avoid the Cuckoos Nest as the whole team clearly hate their jobs and dislike the guests even more.
I have never written a review for a restaurant before but todays experience to the cuckoo's next gave me no option. I feel as though i need to warn any others to stay clear..And just to let you know, i am not a fussy restaurant go-er. Upon arriving and sitting down for some drinks on the lounge / bar terrace area, i had to ask 3 separate staff if we could order drinks. this didnt work so i resulted to following the waitress back into the bar and asking her again. She looked straight at me, shrugged and walked right past me. i then went direct to the bar to order. I was then rudely told i couldnt order at the bar and had to order from a waitress. 15 minutes later i succeeded in ordering a round of drinks from a waiter (who was actually quite nice but massively over worked). We eventually got seated inside for lunch. After receiving our mains, we requested some mustard and a bottle of water at which point the waiter quipped up " is there anything else you want if so tell me now as i do not want to have to go back and forth" (please bare in mind that we were paying the best part of £45-£55 per main. The rudeness and lack of desire to provide a good service almost became comical...Until we sent back a pasta dish as it came with an inch of oil at the bottom of the bowl. the waiter took it away with a silent shrug. We were then accosted by the owner / manager who aggressively questioned what was wrong with it and insinuated that an inch of olive oil was perfectly fine..There were several other similar episodes (bringing the bill before we received our coffee's and then explaining that the coffee machine was very busy)All in all a horrendous experience . I have never come across a set of staff who are so rude. the manager / owner had a perfect opportunity to set everything right however he preferred to go on the offensive and yell at us..This is just not acceptable from any restaurant, let alone one charging £100 a head for lunchSTAY WELL CLEAR!
The owner ruined our lunch, probably our day. Never seen such rudeness. Worst service probably of any restaurant I have ever been to or on par.And the food wasn't much better. My fussili pasta was more like an oil soup and was inedible. The owner then shouted that this is how pasta should be served.I ended up eating a mixed salad and chips and was too nervous to ask the waiter for ketchup for fear of getting shouted at again!
