Cafe Du Suro - Ventura

The pastries and bread at this restaurant are excellent, likely the best in the area. The coffee is alright, but the service has been lacking during my recent visits. There have been delays in serving, as well as mix-ups and misplaced orders. Furthermore, the staff's attitude has been disappointing.

This restaurant is amazing! The avocado toast on thick, delicious homemade rustic bread was incredible - it was so good that I ended up buying a whole loaf to bring home. The bread was gigantic, moist, and the best I've ever had. Everything is made by the baker on-site, who also bakes buckwheat bread. I also tried a perfect pastry called koign aman (or something similar) and had some great coffee. I'm writing this review because this place is a hidden gem and I want them to continue thriving in business.

I had a great experience today at this restaurant. The baked goods were excellent, the coffees and boba smoothies were great, and the staff was very friendly. I'm so happy I decided to visit. It's important to support local businesses like this one instead of going to Starbucks.

The baked goods here are pretty good: scones, waffles, croissants and all the other things you’d expect to find at a café. The coffee, however, was very disappointing: I got a macchiato and the steamed milk was over-steamed and too stiff. The espresso was very weak and didn’t taste like coffee at all, despite being made from Intelligentsia beans: if you want coffee, I’d skip this place and go to Palermo, Prospect Coffee Roasters or Singing Sun instead. This is particularly disappointing because I’ve come here several times since the cafe opened (I even added the cafe to Google Maps), and it used to be a good place for espresso or a cup of coffee. The owners should invest in some barista training: it’s a great location and feel, marred by bad coffee.

Absolutely loved this place! The service, pastries and coffee! It looks like a French Cafe and it's just as good if not better!
