As we are not meat eaters, we opted for salads - my husband chose the salmon salad and I chose the shrimp salad. However, both dishes were underwhelming. My plate was missing the grilled vegetables that I had been looking forward to, and the extra dish of carrots and zucchini lacked flavor. The mixed salad was rather basic and lacked enough vinaigrette, while my husband's salmon salad did not contain the promised wild mushrooms or ample arugula. The raspberry vinaigrette was also scarce. Despite these disappointments, the appetizer of pear and cheese was alright, and the wine selection was impressive. We were pleasantly surprised by the blueberry mousse with caramelized onions for dessert, which was offered to make up for the lack of vegetables in our salads. The view from the restaurant was lovely, and the non-smoking policy outside was appreciated, especially with the curtains for protection against rain. Overall, while the view is nice, we were not satisfied with the quality of the food compared to the price. We most likely will not be returning in the future.
I visited this restaurant in 2013 and was pleasantly surprised. However, my recent experience this year was quite disappointing. My wife and I visited on a Thursday night and were informed that about half of the appetizers were out of stock, and there was no filet mignon available. Additionally, there was no fixed priced menu. We both ordered the soup, which was decent but had a strong bacon flavor. I ordered the bavette shallots with fries, which was the worst bavette I have ever tasted - it was bland, tough, and even the shallots lacked flavor. I had to request some pepper sauce to enhance the dish. My wife's pork loin with mustard sauce was overly salty. The bill for two appetizers, two main courses, a bottle of wine, and tip came to $135 CDN. Although the view from the restaurant is great, the overall dining experience was a disappointment.
The best thing about this place is its setting and building. The outdoor terrace is picturesque and enjoyable, with a beautiful view of Lake Champlain. The interior is comfortable, newly decorated, fresh, and modern. The lunch menu was limited but everyone enjoyed their dishes, which had a nice local flair and used fresh ingredients. I had the gravlax salad and it was very good. However, I must mention the negatives. We arrived at 12:05 on a Saturday afternoon, a prime time for Venice, and didn't leave until 14:15. The service was slow and unprepared, with wrong orders being delivered and long waits for food and the menu. The table next to us received complimentary glasses of wine twice because of mistakes with their orders. I hope the owner or manager has made adjustments to ensure that the staff match the high quality of the food, restaurant, and view. This place has the potential to be a gem, but it depends on improvements in the service. I gave it 3 stars and will revisit next time I am in the area.
I have been here a few times, as my daughter works at the hotel. I love eating breakfast on the terrace, so beautiful. I have also come to the brunches on Sunday, for Mother's Day and other special occasions . The breakfast is always good , service is very good , and friendly as well. I find the breakfast a little expensive, but a nice treat to be able to enjoy the beautiful weather, and watch the sail boats and activity on the water. Usually I go during the week, so it is quiet. The brunches are very well laid out and plenty of everything, and all you want to eat. Prices a little high for my budget, but well worth it every now and then for a treat!
