We stumbled into this restaurant out first night and we were NOT disappointed. The lasagna was the best lasagna we have ever had. In our lives. I'm Italian American, I've had a lot of lasagna. Nothing has and nothing ever will compare. The second night we had to go back because the food was just that good. We got the stinco and it was insanely good. I wish I lived in Venice just for this restaurant. The service is wonderful as well. Our waiter Luca was so kind and attentive.
Galeon is about midway on via Garibaldi, a wide promenade lined with bars, restaurants and shops. We arrived exhausted following a challenging day of travel and were warmly greeted. It was cool, so we sat inside in a charming space. We defaulted to familiar pasta dishes which were very good bones and seafood, along with a caprese salad. Everything was tasty, and prices were very reasonable. I wish we had time to return to sample other dishes that looked delicious!
This is out favorite restaurant in Venice, and 2nd place is not even close. The Balsamic steak was to die for (literally the best rendition we've had i Italia), their take on eggplant parm is fantastic, with the eggplant being thinly sliced and flash fired for the perfect crunch. Couple the superb food with the amazing service, ambiance, and the romantic setting of venice make this a must try while in the city.
My favourite restaurant in Venice. Been many times. Try the squid ink pasta. The rose is delicious. I had the spicy seafood pasta as well another night. My husband loves their beef tortellini. Michael (I think was his name) was amazing
My visit to this place set two new standards. 1) It was the very last time I will take a restaurant recommendation from a hotel concierge. 2) It was the first truly bad meal I 've ever had in Italy. The other reviews here (only 3 as I write this) seem as if they must really be about some other, far better restaurant. Aside from being completely ignored for half an hour with our glasses dry, the pasta was soggy (my lasagne tasted as if it had been in the fridge for a week and defrosted 10 minutes before serving), the octopus salad had no flavor other than what hospitals call instant bland and the seafood dishes were fresh, but small and utterly devoid of character. And it 's not cheap, not even close: we paid €134.00 for three, without wine or dessert. If your concierge tells you this is a great seafood place, tell him he can stuff his kickbacks where the sun don 't shine.
