Obviously someone had this wrong. It's certainly popular but for smoking, loitering young people, not far those looking for a flamenco experience. One review suggested that they tend toward modern flamenco. Not likely the flamenco world would be happy with that label no matter how progressive they are.
Went to a private activity here for drinks and music. Both were exceptional. The Flamenco guitarist and the female singer were both young, good looking and very talented. The bars owner attended to drinks and snacks as we enjoyed the entertainment. The converted stables have superior acoustics and we enjoyed the evening immensely. The place, the music, the drinks, the evening were all exceptional.
For atmosphere and a great late night venue (it only opens after 10pm) this is a must. We were fortunate to go on a Friday evening and the place was buzzing with a live flamenco trio playing very modern style flamenco, so we decided to return on Saturday, a good decision, different trio same atmosphere. Also the local wine they serve is excellent and the beer cold, what more could one want for a good enjoyable night out.
In the Autumn 2017 my view of flamenco was completely transformed in the 2 main music bars of Vejer. This included consecutive weekends in this reformed, whitewashed stable, complete with earth floor. If you are passing, after about 11pm, and there is a live music on it is an absolute must. If there is no music you are still going to get a great globe of gin tonica in fabulous, atmospheric surroundings.
Good selection of wine and spirits. Music at times, and late. Good location but that is about. OK if you are a night owl! I must say that the decor is very well done. Be sure to check out the front door.
