We ate at Hostaria Del Pavone on a number of occasions during our last visit to Vasto and it was an awesome and excellent experience. Exceptional fine dining that is matched with local produce and wines. The service was great and very accomodating to myself and my wife considering we speak very little Italian. Nicholi and his son provided some amazing experiences and made us feel welcome each time. I was also lucky enough to have Nicholi show me his wine room. An impressive selection of wines from around the world that would make any vinophyle shake with envy. Thank you Nic for your service and the wonderful experiences and memories we have.
My family , friends and i visited this restaurant in June. the welcome soon unrevealed the rudeness and arrogance of the host owner which greeted us in shabby , dirty cook clothes and a pair of sandals completely out of line with the pretentious decor and overall atmosphere. while ordering , in several occasions he failed to be kind , patient and courteous while explaining the dishes with more of an arrogant and annoyed attitude. we decided to follow his suggestions to avoid confronting in making the decision about what to eat so that we could finally have dinner. my partner and i ordered oysters and when asking if would have been possible to have , beside lemon , seasoned vinegar and black pepper he soon came to the table making an all statement about how oysters should been eaten and argumenting instead of simply responding to the request. the pasta dish was tasteless , it was more of boiled pasta without salt or any of the promised delicious vongole Nostrane the sublime as he had described plate of raw fish was far from tasting the flavor of the nearby Adriatic sea and the ricciola sashimi was un eatable he left the all fish on a trolley next to our table trought out the all evening , out of the fridge and without any meaning of refrigeration as crushed ice or other ... he kept slicing the fish using his hands clearly durty , unwashed since we had arrived , without using gloves but mostly kept serving out in a durty show wearing a pair of plastic sandals showing half of his calloused toes ... a quite unpleasant and disgusting scene! The owners directs , commands , orders his staff in a direct hard way creating a very tense atmosphere to the incredible surprise of all the diners not worth visiting not only for the mediocre food but for the un professional , arrogant , rude owner . the bill is according to his vision of good service and cooking , pricey !
It is to be tried, kind, polite and professionally valid staff well managed by the owner Nicola always available.
There's little to comment...it's an experience you have to live
