Chow Boyz - Vanderhoof

The staff was friendly and efficient, the ambient clean and bright. We had quick service and tasty food with generous servings.

We have Chinese food a lot, and ate here as we made the mistake of staying at the motel next door and it was recommended by the lady on reception as being very good. It wasn't. We were the only ones there.We ordered sweet & sour pork which was hard lumps of tough pork in a luminescent red sauce without any vegetables, and chicken chow mein which tasted like 2 minute noodles with dried chicken stock powder sprinkled over it. The steamed rice was strangely sweet. We left most of it, and avoided 'Canadian Chinese' for the rest of our 6 week trip. I would NOT recommend Chow Boys.

I ordered chopsuey with a cup of steamed rice. Both were served hot. The chopsuey is good for two. It's kinda huge for 12$. It's tasty and not bland. Vegetables were not over cooked and there's a variety not just two or three kinds of veggies. I wasn't able to finish it so I asked the lady that I want the left over to go. She put it in a small styro. No plastic bag. The styro is not good for food with sauces because of spillage and true enough, the chopsuey sauce spilled all over my bag when I got home. I hope they will provide atleast a plastic container for take out foods that are saucy to prevent spillage.

We went for dinner with friends and enjoyed great Chinese food at Chow Boyz with their new management. We ordered an assortment of dishes instead of the buffet. The portion sizes were generous and we were served quickly with excellent service. The atmosphere was cozy and it was nicely decorated for Christmas.

We went for lunch for the first time to Chow Boyz after hearing it was under new ownership. We were expecting an average Chinese combo plate lunch. We did much better. The combo plate was sweet and sour port, chicken chow mein and almond breaded chicken. I also ordered an egg roll. The food was fresh, with a very thin breading on the almond chicken. The portions were huge, so we took home the leftovers for supper. There is easily enough in one combo plate to serve 2 adults. We'll be going back to try their buffet.
