Food isn’t tasting that good. We had non veg thali with lamb curry and chicken curry and kheer. Kheer was good but curries aren’t tasty. Also chicken biryani comes with potatoes which is not good. It’s not about potatoes in biryani, biryani isn’t tasty. I’m not particularly looking at Indian taste, the overall taste isn’t good. I lost my appetite after a minute due to taste.
Had a fantastic experience at Jambo Grill for dinner. The staff and owner were great. The owner greeted all the customers and we exchanged similar stories about Africa and India with him. The food and drinks were also exceptional! A must visit if you're in Vancouver!
Food and decor were very good and it was a little on the pricier side. The non alcoholic drinks are really unique and yummy. Service was very slow. We waited 30m+ for our cheque and a to go box. This has nothing to do with the staff, and maybe it was just unlucky, but the table next to us was talking about how awful trans people are and I saw another group look in disgust at a visibly queer couple and asked to be reseated away from them. Really killed the vibe.
Been here twice in the past two weeks. Bottom line is that some food is good, other stuff not so good. Likely won’t be back given the prices and small portion sizes.Dishes that we ordered below:Good options:1) Nylon Bhajia: fantastic, the highlight both times- coconut chutney was stellar as well2) Chicken poussin: tasted great, well cooked and seasoned3) Masala fries: great4) Pili pili corn: solid side5) mango tangaweeziNot so good:1) Mogo with salt: first time we had it not bad, second time the mogo itself tasted old2) Kukoo choma: not bad, good masala, but a bit dry3) Jungle Ribs: both times slightly overdone (dry meat, not tender) but the masala was great. The second time, the one of our two orders of rib plates tasted different from the other- so consistency is likely hit and miss4) Mishkaki: quite overcooked but masala on it was great5) Mandazi: waaaayy overdone- crispy and well beyond golden brown- inedible6) Bottomless Masala chai: was expecting karak chai, this was mostly water.
