Valpo Velvet - Valparaiso

The spicy chickpea sandwich was delicious, and their iced tea was also excellent.

I recently tried the new Hippie Bowl at this restaurant and found it to be very tasty and satisfying. However, I was surprised to find a cooked egg in the dish, which wasn't mixed in, so I was able to easily remove it. Next time, I will request for it to be left out. In addition to a limited selection of sorbets, they also offer chocolate-dipped frozen bananas on their menu.

Valpo Velvet has elevated their game and is now more vegan-friendly than ever. They have a new vegan veggie salad that is fantastic. They have a sign indicating that every item can be made vegan, and they truly mean it as they happily accommodate my requests each time I visit. Their sandwich options are great, with choices like the Uh La La sourdough bread with Havarti cheese, mustard, tomatoes, avocado, spinach, and a fried egg, or the Popeye sandwich with cream cheese, spinach, tomatoes, pickles, and Swiss, cheddar, and provolone cheeses on tomato basil bread. They also offer a veggie sandwich with hummus, provolone, salad, tomatoes, pickles, and artichokes on tomato basil bread. Their California Crunch salad is delicious, and they also serve a Garden Grub plate with hummus, spinach dip, pita chips, and vegetables. They can modify any sandwich to be meat-free, like their Pilgrim sandwich with Swiss cheese, Granny Smith apple slices, mayo, and homemade cranberry sauce on white bread. In addition to their sandwiches, they have soups, salads, fruit smoothies, old-fashioned phosphate drinks, and a very friendly staff. Unfortunately, their ice cream still contains gelatin, but they offer vegan options like frozen bananas dipped in dark chocolate and a few sorbet flavors. Overall, I love this place!
