Hot spot, with a value price that is worth the detour! We're always very well received. I recommend you!
We have been there for lunch. The place is cosy and the owner is friendly. We were very happy with the quality/price ratio. We tried their tart and tartines with maroilles cheese, tarte tatin and rhubarb tart.I personally recommend maroilles cheese tart and tarte tatin.. For the tartines, they were not bad yet still i wish they used good quality tartine bread. We d stop by again if we are in the area..
We visited on a Friday night, without a reservation but managed to squeeze in on a high table next to the bar. The concept is simple, choose a tart, crumble or tatine which is then served with a jacket potato and salad. There is a set menu for one, two or three courses (including drink), although the starters weren't clearly disaplyed on the menu so we plumped for two courses. The waiter/owner didn't speak English, but this wasn't a problem as the menu was easy to decifer even with our basic French. We thought the food was well cooked, well presented and good value for money. We're pleased we found this restaurant and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it to others. If you want to visit on a Friday or Saturday I would recommend making a reservation.
Let's be fair, this is really good value for 13€ or so, you get à drink, a main course and a.dessert. Good value. Food-wise, the tarts are nothing to write home about, decent at best. The salad that came with it was useless and the seasoning irrelevant. The dessert, a pear and chocolate crumble, was à massive disappointment, too hot, too sweet, way too much black stuff that barely tasted like chocolate, so much so that you couldnt possibly imagine there were pears in there. Other desserts at our table, such as the chocolate mousse were clearly not homemade. Service was very slow and somewhat unprofessional. So yes for 13€, its good value, sure, but for a placé called Côté Tartes, its just not good enough... Ps, menu doesnt include alcoholic beverages.
