Mistela - Valencia

Having allowed a little time to find Bar Mistela as this was our first visit, we arrived a little early for our booking. I know this is unusual in Spain (so British! but the result was an out-of-the-way table near the terrace over the road, and the service was sub-standard as a result. We were able to order relatively quickly, and our tapas choices started to arrive in good time, although drinks came after some of the food, despite having ordered them first. The food was excellent: croquetas de bogavante were fabulous, alongside very good patatas bravas and an excellent salad. The waiter who seemed to be in charge of the team working on this outside area was much too concerned with micro-managing them to allow him (or them to be attentive to customers. Some dropped and broken glass close to some cars appeared to need 3 people to deal with it, and our head waiter put all of his attention into cursing and pointing, and involving any other colleagues who would listen. We were able to get another drink eventually, and when this finally arrived our waiter asked if our wine was OK, but this seemed a little late! When we had finished our tapas, we struggled to get anyone 's attention to order desserts. We are accustomed to a leisurely pace of service in Spain, but we were being actively ignored here. When we were finally able to order desserts followed by coffee, they were very good, and the overall cost was reasonable. Bar Mistela appears to be quite a vibrant, bright, successful restaurant that 's set up with a good offer right throughout the day. Being outside the tourist area and close to our home, we would probably go back for the good food... and make sure we got a table right outside the actual restaurant!

The service and the food were all amazing. Accidentally it was the birthday night of the place and besides the food we ordered we received a few minor delicacies as a gift. Daniele our waiter was fantastic, super helpful to come up with a set of tapas that we can enjoy without understanding all the details of the menu. We'll visit you again soon.

We happened to find this place after the conclusion of a long trip to Valencia. We really did not know what to expect, but we saw the listing on Trip Advisor and thought we would give it a try. We were not disappointed at all. The restaurant is modern and clean, and the staff (particularly Willy and Adrian) were nothing less than exceptional. The food was outstanding from beginning to end. The attention given to the food, the service, and the design of this place makes it an extremely popular spot to eat and will continue to bring in customers in the future. We plan to go back for sure and will certainly recommend it to our friends, family, and colleagues. Thanks so much to the waiters and chefs that made this incredible experience come together!!

La comida estaba muy buena, es la primera vez que íbamos y repetiremos sin duda. La atención de Dani fue espectacular, en pocos sitios nos han atendido tan bien y fue muy cercano, era el cumpleaños de mi hija y le cantaron todos el cumpleaños feliz. Volveremos!!!

Comida deliciosa en un lugar agradable. Se encuentra algo alejado del centro, lo cual se agradece por la tranquilidad. De entrante hemos pedido ensaladilla (muy rica y sin aceitunas, por si a alguien no le gustan) y croquetas de bogavante las cuales estaban cremosas y con buenos tropezones de marisco (por poner una pega, algo caras a 3€ la unidad para el tamaño que tienen). Además hemos pedido un arroz seco de picaña (reservado previamente) y estaba increíblemente bueno, muy sabroso y con bastante carne, un acierto total. Destacar el buen servicio del camarero (Dani).
