Contribuiți la feedbackI took my mother here for a meal and for the happiness it was steak night. we were very impressed by the fillet, T-bone and sirloin. the service was also excellent and beautiful atmosphere. don't hesitate to come back when I'm in Fernham. thank you for a nice one.
First of all, this is not a pub. It may have been in the past, but now it is just a restaurant trying to distance itself from a pub atmosphere. Unfortunately, the restaurant is overpriced and the quality of the food is inconsistent. If this establishment was a pub, it should stick to its advertised opening times, but it does not. It seems like the owners do not have a clear direction for their business. I tried to go for a drink tonight, but it was closed despite the advertised hours. It's a shame to see such a great place lose its charm. I will be sticking to local pubs from now on, as it is not worth the journey only to find it closed. The King and Queen down the street is a better option in my opinion. It ticks all the boxes for me.
I was here a few times. but it went downhill. prices have risen. in any case for what they get. a steak only comes with a few chips. not even salate, mushroom, tomato etc. if they want, then they will be much more. unfortunately will not rush back again. the service is also downhill. had to ask many times for drinks.
After a long walk, I decided to grab some lunch and ended up having the best steak sandwiches I've ever tasted! The staff was extremely welcoming and allowed us to bring our dog inside, even providing water and treats for him at the table. Despite being busy, they still provided friendly service. I will definitely be returning in the future.
We have eaten at The Woodman many times over the years but this was the first time for Sunday lunch. Service was quick, but the roast dinner was swimming in about mm of gravy. If I had known I would have asked for a...gravy boat and put it on as I like. Then the vegetables came up in a separate bowl. Although the beans on top were warm, (not hot) the root veg at the bottom were stone cold. After a while when I attracted attention, the server apologised and said he would get me some more. we were also trying to at so nothing else went cold. The new veg appeared and he went off. This dish of veg was exactly the same as the first! Warm beans on top and stone cold below. By then most of meal finished so didn't want another warm/ cold dish of veg. We usually have desserts, coffee and so on, but this time just wanted the bill. Paid up and as we were going the server said sorry about the veg. Shame they have lost loyal customers.
