On first impressions it's just a typical Trattoria, but if you want to eat like a local this is the place to be. We sat inside for one of the best pizza's we have ever had. There were two other large families dining, but it was the constant flow of people getting carry-outs that impressed. Sorry we only found this place at the end of our trip. I would love to try one of their cheesy chips.
I read the reviews and decided that o would give them a chance anyway. Big mistake. We are tourists but speak conversational Italian. This waitress was either as dumb as a box of rocks or pretended not to understand. She even used Google translate and typed nonsense into it. We asked for panini and literally got nothing that we asked for. They panini we got was literally one slice of ham on bread. That 's it. We asked for cheese and tomato (formaggio e pomodori and still got ham. It was a DISASTER. Slip it if you 're not a local.
We have just returned from this cafe/canteen. My hubby had a plate of pasta and we shared 1/2 litre of house red (bit rough). The old lady is in charge of the money, quite clearly she views tourists as sitting ducks. My husband enjoyed the pasta and we drank the wine I would say that locals would pay about 5 8 euros for this. She charged us 20 euros and when I asked how much the pasta was, she pretended not to understand. It is a complete rip off and she and I both knew it. It is a shame as the staff (possibly her younger family) were very pleasant and helpful. If the old woman is in the cafe, I would give it a miss, which is a shame as my husband enjoyed his food. The cafe is opposite the cinema museum and the 2nd World War museum, neither of which have any food provision so she is sucking up gullible tourists and really ripping them off. I asked for a receipt and she just scrawled on a piece of paper from beside the till, a sure sign that the money is not going through the books! On a lighter note, the War and Cinema museums are definitely worth a visit, Cinema museum looks unfriendly from the unfathomable to find front door, but it is really good inside. PS An earlier reviewer said this is in the main square by the railway station, it isn't, it is up the road from the underground station by about 200 metres.
