Contribuiți la feedbackSimply fantastic on every level!!! Location was perfect, rustic, in the country side, ideal for a cosy family evening. There were 15 of us, family and friends, kids and adults. Everybody had a wonderful time. Food was great, there was a lot and the whole group went home very full. It was also a nice touch to have the syrup candy on ice after dinner inside, as opposed to having it out in the cold. Service was friendly and a couple of our specific requests were met without hesitation. We were the last to stay, but servers and singer stayed an extra hour to entertain, as we had so much fun. It was great socialising with other folks, and we danced all night. A very authentic and genuine experience, everything you would want from a Cabane a Sucre. Regarding price, I had no problems, considering you bring your own alcohol, there is no corkage fee, there was an entertainer, plus all you can eat food. Keep in mind they are only open a couple months of the year. Regarding the Paypal deposit, that was unique but understandable, and the refund was there next day, so no complaints. Overall a great experience!!!
We visited the Sucrerie du Terroir at the recommendation of a friend who said the food was all home made and a cut above, making it worth the price. We went expecting the usual Sugar Bush experience and that is not really what was offered.... it was just a lunch, no other activities. Perhaps it's different on the weekend? In any case, the food was good, with the exception of the pancakes, but at $30 each, I was expecting more. Tarts at the end were nice, and they did provide some syrup on snow, but brought into the restaurant in a big bucket. Building and location are authentic, rustic, and nice. You can bring your own alcoholic bevvies, which everyone seems to think is a great addition.
This place is lovely and in the Gatineau hills (not too far from Ottawa). The colours of fall are spectacular here and this place runs a sugar bush breakfast in the spring - with maple syrup. There are several areas to explore in and around Val des Monts.
Food is good and as it can be expected from a sugar schack. But service is way below standard: takes forever to be served and once food is finally on the table, it's as if you're forgotten: we had to "find someone" to get more water on the table and again "find someone" to get cream/milk for coffee! Remember: it's an all you can eat, but you better be prepared to ask for more otherwise your plates are gone. And even when you ask for more, they act surprised! Price wise, a bit expensive; and you better read the fine print on the website as if you attend dinner with the "chansonnier" option, taxes and service are included, but you're asked to leave tips during the transaction on the terminal and that is before dinner and without being told! Finally, the 50,00$ deposit through PayPal is to be reimbursed through PayPal; you can't use it against your meal!!! Hopefully, we'll get our money back faster than some did as reported in other reviews.
The food at this sugar bush is quite good. My main criticism, and maybe this will seem silly, is that the pancakes are not served until the end. They serve pea soup, cole slaw, cretons and bread first. This is followed by eggs in a cast iron pan with thick bacon (excellent!), sausage and potatoes. The pancakes are then served as dessert and the serving is paltry. I prefer the pancakes with the rest of the food. This is why we go to the sugar bush! This place is cash or debit only and I can't say I found the service to be all that friendly. The coffee is terrible.
