Montauk Seafood Grill - Vail

The seafood was excellent. We ordered off the grill menu and the scallops were cooked as we like them although the sea bass was our favorite. On the other hand, we felt the sides need work. The spinach had a touch too much oil/butter and the brussel sprouts were a bit of a miss. Our table was quite small with not a lot of room and we were seated at a half wall. On the other side of it was another table. They were so close it felt like we were dining together which was awkward. It was also hard to hear one another.

In from New York for a week. I had researched many restaurants here in Vail and this an extremely highly rated restaurant! A retired Culinary professor/chef started with the clam chowder… our friend the chef, who used to rate students clam chowder said it was a solid 10 and most likely the best clam chowder he has ever tasted!! 2 of us had the Chilean Sea Bass that our waiter suggested as one of his preferences. The Sea Bass was unquestionably the tastiest fish we have ever had! My buddy whose favorite meat is Salmon had the Scottish Salmon, he also said the best Salmon he’s ever had! The professor/ chef had the incredibly tasty crab salad which he said was a large , extremely tasty salad. Based on the ambience, service our waiter Alex is as good as a waiter as you could ever have) and incredibly tasty food , if want an incredible dining experience, Montauk Seafood, Vail should certainly be on your list!!!

Outstanding food and service! The French onion soup and beet and wedge salads were all very good, and each of the two couples split the seared tuna entree. Incredibly fresh and tasty, and this comes from people from Charleston SC who are spoiled by well-prepared fresh fish! Although all of the desserts looked great, we topped off an excellent meal with the delicious espresso martinis. Joe was a friendly, knowledgeable and attentive server. It’s the no. one restaurant on our list when we return to Vail!!
