Uma 'taberna ' no meio do Alentejo. Um espaço pequeno, com comida tradicional portuguesa à Antiga.. Feita com carinho e saber. Uma bela garrafeira.. Entramos na sala das garrafas onde escolhemos a que queremos.. E bebemos junto com a refeição.. Sem custo adicional para além da garrafa. Bons copos.. Pagamento por multibanco... Existe estacionamento gratuito na zona. Um achado para quem não conhece.. Vale a pena o desvio... A viagem..
Dos melhores restaurantes a que já fui no Alentejo. O local, a simpatia... E a comida... A comida... As melhores buchechas estufadas que já comi. Peçam o pijaminha de sobremesa...
We were checking out retaurants in the area with an intention to reserve a table for the Saturday evening and popped in here to have petiscos and a glass of wine. We were quickly and rudely told they dont serve petiscos! How strange and puzzling. We ordered one wild pig croquette from the lunch menu, one glass of wine and one bottle of water for the princely sum of €23.20, the most expensive croquette we have ever eaten in our lives. The rude lady serving us assumed we did not speak Portugese… big mistake. We heard her say to the cook “ only having croquette” in a sarcastic voice. Our scoring of the resturant was lowered again when she stated “ You cannot sit at the bar “even though there were two stools at the bar. Our intention was to save the white linen tablecloths and knapkins as we were having an expensive snack not a full lunch. Our thoughful consideration was dismissed by the offensive server. On a positive note they have a suberb range of Alentejo wines but sadly, overpriced. One red wine was €250 and is available retail at €65. A pretentious restaurant where the server/ owner?, thinks she is above the clients and has no idea of customer service. Avoid at all costs unless you wish towaste money and have an unpleasant experience.
We had an excellent meal. The wine suggestion went fabulously with our javali (wild boar) and chicken croquettes! I am generally not one to eat beans but the ones in the rice were done to a solid texture. Could have told me they were something else and I would have believed you. The tomate bread stuffing was excellent too. I may have already bookmarked a recipe page to try at home!
