This place was a great place for excellent Peruvian food. Roger our waiter was super attentive and recommended a traditional duck dish that was one of the best meals I had on our trip. The restaurant was quiet and the atmosphere was perfect after a day out exploring. If you are staying in the sacred valley, especially at the Sonesta Posada hotel which is next door, don't miss out on this place!
We visited Tawa at the recommendation of our hotel concierge in Urubamba. A nice setting for good local cuisine. The restaurant was very busy with two large groups the evening we visited which caused our service to be slow. The owners offered us complimentary Pisco Sours, which was a thoughtful gesture for our wait. Lomo Saltado and chicken dishes were very nice along with good appetizers - pizza and trout ceviche. Fried cheese was cold when served though. Small wine list but satisfactory. Great prices for everything. You will enjoy this casual, local place.
Very nice owner, super nice. Wine list is small but works. They use a heavy balsamic reduction on the carpaccio which really overwhelmed the dish and the meat. The melted cheese appetizer also had way to much mango chutney which made it very sweet as well. I'd skip both or anything with sweet stuff unless you really want dinner sweet. The trout and dill ravioli was AMAZING! Excellent dish. One of the best ravioli I've had. I do want to say owner offered to comp carpaccio we were just tires and hungry and we were able to make it better by adding some more cheese and shaved onions which she brought right out. Very nice person
We've been there during our honeymoon trip in Perù, in their winter season. This restaurant was recomended by the hotel staff where we stayed and it was a beautiful surprise! They offered us an appetizer made of bread with an eggplant cream, then we had a vegetarian pizza splitted in two and it was good (we're from italy so we know the real taste of pizza, and we can say that it wasn't bad, maybe it looked like the base of our "piadina" but we appreciated it as well) ... moreover we had a delicious black quinoa chowder and a beef tenderloin in three pepper sauce...really good both! The place was confortable and warm (even though they don't have Wi-Fi), our waiter Roger was tender and careful and we had the chance to pay both cash and with Visa! Sure if we come back to Perù we'll choose the same restaurant!
