Martin’s Tunes And Eats - Upper Alton

I discovered Martins through an ad in The Social, a monthly magazine that showcases local businesses through my mailbox. Eager to explore my new neighborhood, I decided to give them a try. Fortunately, my first visit coincided with Happy Hour, and the cocktail specials were definitely easy on my wallet. After enjoying a few drinks and chatting with fellow bar patrons, I decided to order some food. Originally, I planned to get either wings or a burger, but the bartender convinced me to try the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich, assuring me I wouldn’t regret it. Described on the menu as "Big As Your Face," they were not exaggerating! When the sandwich arrived, everyone at the bar gasped, exclaiming that I would never finish it. They were right; it was enormous! Not only was it substantial in size, but it also packed a ton of flavor. I opted for the fried version instead of grilled, and the breading was perfectly crispy. One of my new bar friends suggested I enjoy part of my leftovers mixed with scrambled eggs in the morning, which I did, and I still had enough for a small sandwich for lunch. As a side, I chose the Homemade Potato Chips over fries. They could have been a bit crispier, but they were a delightful change from the usual fries. While dining, I noticed they also serve breakfast, and since I love a good breakfast out, I returned a couple of days later. On weekends, you simply can't skip the Bloody Mary, and wow! They make their own spicy mix that’s the perfect way to kick off brunch. If you visit on a Sunday, the Bloody Marys are on special. Having grown up on a farm, I have a special place in my heart for good Biscuits and Gravy. I always try to order a half portion when available, and I was lucky to find a Biscuit and Gravy Combo on the menu. I enjoyed my half order with two scrambled eggs, a side of bacon, and country hash browns. It was a hearty breakfast that kept me satisfied throughout the day. Again, aiming for crispy potatoes, I wished my hash browns had been a tad crispier, but overall, it was a big thumbs up. The staff is friendly, creating a real neighborhood diner/dive bar vibe. Even the other patrons are welcoming to newcomers. The atmosphere is truly relaxing and inviting. Date of visits: September 9-11, 2021 Purpose: Dinner and Breakfast

The food was incredible—absolutely delicious and plentiful! The band was fantastic as well. We'll definitely be returning.

Delicious food at a fair price, with music always playing in the background. The service was excellent, and I can't wait to return!

Was there for 5 minutes only had 2 other tables full.. 4 people at bar in gaming area.. nobody acknowledged we were there.. the one gal there came from kitchen area walked behind bar, and starting stuffing her mouth with food instead of atleast letting us know we were seen... terrible way to start running a place to eat.... wont b back.. better get things fixed .. oh and this was at like 2 in the afternoon
