Berggasthaus Stofeli - Unterwasser

We stopped here for our lunch break during a day of skiing. They have a nice terrace where you can enjoy the mountains while eating. The location is nice but the dishes a little pricy and small for lunch while skiing.

In Switzerland people like to ski in Winter and to hike in Summer. Both activities leave them thirsty and hungry. Therefore you find a lot of guesthouses, inns and restaurants in the Swiss alps, where you can have break or even spend your night. The.. Berggasthaus Stöfeli could easily be the quintessential Swiss mountain guesthouse. Why? Location is everything: nature seems to have prepared this place for this inn. It's nested harmonically in the landscape, just beneath the breathtaking mountain scenery of the Chäserrugg peak and allowing the view into the Swiss alpine skyline. As an additional bonus you are able to eat exactly underneath the Chäserrugg cable car ropes. So regularly a fire-red cable car moves above you. It's like out of this world. Drinks and food: here you not only get local products, here you get them in a way that mixes traditional and modern style. And what you get is really good, it tastes home made and not out of tins. A simple salad is a feast for your gustative nerves. People: They are local this makes it perfect. Nothing against anybody, but having somebody local with a regional accent is just the icing on the cake. And the lady in charge during my visit was bright, shiny and friendly. Wow. You don't get that too often in Swiss mountain guesthouses. She was simply perfect and if anybody wants learn how hospitality looks and feels light, come here and learn. For all others guests: just enjoy. All together: well, it's quite simply the quintessential swiss mountain guesthouse.

Whether in summer or winter, it is worth visiting the Stöfeli mountain inn in the Chaeserrugg region. With its setting, menu and hospitality this has to be called the quintessential Swiss mountain inn yes, they even offer accommodation. Went there on a bright...More It was a hot day so I was happy to get some shade under an umbrella on the patio. The lady in charge of the guests couldn't have done her job better and she did more. She was as bright as the weather, friendly, helpful just perfect. The selection of dishes here in the middle of the mountains was also varied, most of which consisted of local products. And even if everything is very traditional here, it is done in a modern way. Nothing is overdue, all in a very pleasant way. The food is very good and served quickly. One of the most fascinating assets here is the cable car, which really goes over your head when you're sitting on the terrace. Fascinating. And the view over the distant and nearby mountains is spectacular.

Das Restaurant ist drinnen wie draussen sehr gepflegt. Das Angebot ist reichlich. Die verschiedenen Theken sind übersichtlich. Schön, wenn man draussen sitzen kann.

Das "Stöfeli" wurde, seit die neue Gondelbahn in Betrieb ist, etwas renoviert – vor allem die Speisekarte wurde etwas erneuert: Jetzt stehen mehr und etwas aussergewöhnlichere vegetarische Menus zur Verfügung. Etwas schade ist, dass die früher immer ausgezeichnet zubereiteten Chäs-Chnöpfli nicht mehr zu haben sind. Dafür gibt's ein gut gemachtes Linsengericht mit Gemüse, und auch die Älplermagronen schmecken gut. Alles in allem für ein Restaurant auf der Skipiste gute Qualität zu einem anständigen Preis.
