Contribuiți la feedbackMalay House has a new menu, including lunch specials from $10.90. We tried the Maggie goreng and nasi Pattaya, which were generous portions and decent in taste. While the curry powder in the nasi Pattaya wasn't to my liking, our friend enjoyed the dry pan mee dish, saying it tasted like home. With a variety of dishes to explore, we look forward to returning to try more options.
I always tell my friends how lucky we are to live in Australia, especially in Brisbane, where we have an abundance of authentic Malaysian eateries. This particular restaurant is one of my favorites. Last month, we placed a take-away order and were pleased to see that there was no noticeable impact from COVID-19 on their business. Despite being as busy as usual, I had to wait for 10 minutes even though I had placed my phone order 20 minutes prior to arrival. However, the wait was worth it as the food was superb. In addition to the delicious Hainan Chicken rice and roti that I had tried before, the new dishes I sampled – salmon fish head with vermicelli and clay pot tofu rice – were both flavorful and above average in quality. It's no surprise that this restaurant is always bustling. Previous ratings: Nov 2018 5/5; Feb 2019 4.5/5; Sep 2019 5/5
I believe I have discovered my new favorite Malaysian restaurant in Brisbane! Although I had heard of Malay House, it was a bit of a trek for us to visit as it is located in Underwood. Dining with three other adults, we decided to share some of the restaurant's signature Malaysian dishes. One standout was the chicken satay, which had a marinade that reminded me of home. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the accompanying peanut sauce was delicious.
Helpful staff, huge portions and cheap eats. Could have improved a bit on flavour and served hot food rather than luke warm.
Walking into Malay House today, there were no vacant tables indoors. I had to sit in the outdoor dining area on this warm 35°c Autumn day. The Hainan Chicken Rice was sold out so I ordered a Char Kueh Teow $13.90). The Rice Noodles were nicely fried, Prawns were fresh with plenty of Fish Balls and Fish Cake. Very tasty!
