We go once a week to enjoy a meal prior to the Symphony in the beautiful Peon Contreras. Even though it is no longer listed on the menu we...start with sharing the Ceasar salad which has a dressing with anchovies and parm, olive oil and lemon just as it should be. We enjoy the pasta dishes which are served with an abundance of well made sauces. Always a delight and the serving staff always remember us which makes the evening even more enjoyable.
Small family run Italian eatery in the heart of Merida. Husband is the Chef and the wife runs the front of the house.Limited wine selection but it a small cozy place and the food was excellent. Some different dishes with curry in Italian food etc....Quite good ,I had it. Good prices and worth a visit .
Conveniently located behind Peon Contreras, it is a great little Italian restaurant where you can chat with symphony musicians after Friday night and Sunday afternoon concerts. Terrific cuisine, including unusual items like Penne Genovese...shrimp in curry sauce! The panna cotta is the best! Runner up...is a restaurant in Chicago, but Il Café is so much closer!! Chef Marco is a master. Staff is terrific and accommodating.
We have eaten here twice and both times our pasta dishes have been to die for. Mushrooms, veggies, flavours, creamy sauces. Their margaritas are excellent, too. As unofficial tiramisu experts, we could not, however, recommend their version. True tiramisu is tiramisu...don’t mess with it. The...service on both occasions was very good.
We saw a Facebook promotion for this restaurant and decided to search it out. Il Caffe is across the alley from the soon to open Palacio de Musica in Mérida, and the construction renders it almost invisible to the average pedestrian. But it is extremely...convenient to all that downtown has to offer. The interior is reminiscent of the little cafe where I ate almost every night when I was studying in Italy in the eighties, so there was an immediate sense of comfort in the down-home decor. It was still pretty early for dinner in Mérida, so the wait staff was pretty slight, but the service was still very good. The menu was pretty standard with most of the expected Italian dishes. We sampled the excellent meat lasagna, with perfectly prepared al dente pasta and a fresh, rich tomato sauce that lacked the sharp undertones that many restaurants seem not to be able to avoid. The carbonara was similarly authentic in composition with a light and well balanced sauce. The house wine was a great complement to the entrees. We look forward to returning to try out some of the other menu items.
