They don 't open for dinner until 6:30 so no early bird dining, but if you are hungry it is worth the wait. We ate here 3 times during our recent 5 day stay in Udine enough said?
It was raining in Udine and we were looking for a place for lunch. We ducked into La Ciacarade and found a warm, family type of place. My husband and I ordered a vegetable lentil soup. I had chesnut pasta with boar and prune sauce. My husband ordered guancialetto with polenta. The soup was fine. It also seemed to have barley in it. Both our main courses were good. My husband really liked his. Although the interior lacks charm, the food was tasty and the location and price were right.
The Telegraph recommended this place. It did say that from the outside it looked a bit dingy. What it failed to mention was that the inside was even dingier. We had a singularly uninteresting dinner. The place was not full and I now understand why. There is a much nicer restaurant not very far away.
