I visited this restaurant for the first time and had a great experience. The service was quick and friendly. I tried their typical Friday Fish Fry, which was a bit oilier than I like, but it was served hot. The potato pancakes were a tasty alternative. The crab-stuffed mushrooms were absolutely delicious!
As a local, I must say that the food here has never been impressive. Recently, I had a friend visiting from out of town, so I decided to give this place another chance since it offers a pleasant view of the water. Unfortunately, the only thing that's changed is the prices. My friend ordered a wrap for $12, which she enjoyed, but I went for the patty melt priced at $14, and it was utterly flavorless. The ratio of bread to patty was way off, with just a tiny piece of onion, and the bread was as tough as a rock. I ended up leaving the sandwich in pieces on my plate. There were no pickles or slaw, just a mound of overcooked tater tots alongside a disappointing sandwich. It seems like they are content to keep profiting from tourists. I've never been overly critical about eating out, but with current restaurant prices, they should be held accountable for subpar food and service. A casual lunch for two now costs between $40 and $50, and I expected much better quality.
Everything in context. This isn’t the Four Seasons. But it is a sold choice for good, fairly-priced food with a great lakeside setting. Been going here off and on for 4 years and there have been some turbulent times, but I think the kinks are getting ironed out. Would like to give a shout out to the cute, petite server who is one of the hardest working women I’ve seen in a restaurant. I couldn’t make up my mind between the 2 specials so asked her to have the chef pick. And what comes out?? One of the options with a side of the other! Both very good. Cubano sandwich and the Mama’s Pasta ? . Would have either or both again! My only recommendation when you have a setting of that caliber, maybe paint the outdoor tables a subtle color that doesn’t chip. Maybe an overall subtle look inside and out that classes it up a bit…but then would it really be a “wild child”??
I want to start by saying Crystal was amazing and very kind. This review is not a reflection of her terrific customer service. My issue is with the food and the owner.I ordered a patty melt and tater tots. The bread was burnt. The burger was the size of a standard slider. The tater tots were freezer burnt. My food was given to me cold and in styrofoam by some man without saying a word and he did not introduce himself. The next day as I was going to board a boat on the dock, I attempted to walk onto the pier, I was blocked by the same man, he raised his voice at me and asked me where I parked. I told him I didn’t park anywhere, I did not drive there. He continued to yell and berate me about parking in his parking lot and threatened to tow me. I kept walking and was told that he was the owner of Wild Child’s.Two days later the same person, Ryan, again approached me as I was sitting on my friends boat and started yelling about parking in his lot again!I am not from Twin Lakes and was only visiting. He was rude, aggressive and threatening. Please be aware of his temper and be careful if you are around his establishment. The food is awful and over priced. Horrible experience. Very bad representation for Twin Lakes.
