Contribuiți la feedbackThe restaurant and its staff are true gems in Twillingate. The house is conveniently located right in front of you. We enjoyed a delightful pig roast served with dressing and gravy. The Caesar salad was delicious, and the chicken stir fry was equally impressive. I regret that we didn’t have room for dessert!
We arrived in Twillingate tonight and spoke with our hostess at our B&B.
I wish I could write a positive review, but unfortunately, I can't. Our group of five dined together, and the total bill came to nearly $350, which felt excessive given the quality and flavor of the food. My husband ordered the fish soup for an appetizer, which was mostly cabbage and contained just two tiny shrimp and a small piece of cod. Three of us chose the garlic shrimp, which were just small salad shrimp served in what seemed to be cheddar cheese. One person had the shrimp Diavolo but didn't finish it, and another ordered the lobster roll (actually a seafood roll) that contained about $5 worth of seafood. The Caesar salad was acceptable, at least. We also ordered a $35 bottle of wine. I've never left such a negative review before, but we all felt let down and quite disheartened by the experience. I understand the challenges of running a restaurant and making a profit, but unfortunately, this was not a good experience for any of us. On a positive note, the service we received was excellent! Sincerely, JH.
I wish I could share a positive review, but unfortunately, I can't. Our group of five had dinner, and the total came to nearly $350, which I found shocking given the taste and quality of the food. My husband ordered the fish soup as an appetizer, but it mostly consisted of cabbage with just two shrimp and a piece of cod. Three of us tried the garlic shrimp, which featured tiny, overcooked salad shrimp drowning in what appeared to be cheddar cheese. Both of us ordered the jumbo shrimp in a tomato brandy cream sauce over pasta, and it was so incredibly flavorful that we found ourselves commenting multiple times during dinner about how much we were enjoying it. We arrived quite late and were informed beforehand that they had run out of the salad that normally accompanies the dish. We didn't mind and ordered it anyway, convinced that the shrimp would be more than enough for us (and it truly was PLENTY of food). To our surprise, the hostess (who we believe was the owner) brought us a plate of baked garlic shrimp to share as a substitute for the salad. It was fantastic as well. We left feeling completely satisfied and stuffed. Having only been in Newfoundland for a few days, we've heard all the stories about the warmth and friendliness of the locals. Our experience at Pier 39 reinforced all the positive interactions we've had with Newfoundlanders, making us feel welcome the moment we walked in. It was a wonderful dining experience that we would love to repeat, so we hope to return before leaving town.
