Ordering was self serve (yet relatively easy but there was a person that helped us since it was our first time there. Food was amazing and reasonably priced (and filling! We each had the Musubi combo. You can choose 2 proteins and a vegetable. We were waiting at a table for the text to pickup our food when Carlos came and served us! He even brought us water and sirracha. Carlos came back a couple times to make sure all was good and even told us not to bus our own table, he would take care of it. Shout out to a great employee!! I will definitely return and I'm sure my friend will too. Sadly we forgot to take photos
Whenever we're in the area or passing by, we try to stop here. The food is good the skewers, the wings and the kimchi noodles. We found everything pretty tasty and fresh, not too salty. The owner is friendly and hard working. The Union Market is pretty empty now only this restaurant and a tea shop everything else is gone. We hope this place is able to stick around.
Tried this a week ago. The location is slightly confusing and parking is weird. we had to park and walk across to get here. There were much less seats inside than I expected, which means it'll be bad on a busy day. Got the beef kombu with pork belly and asparagus. The asparagus was nicely grilled and flavored. Pork belly is pretty good as well. The shredded beef in the noodles tasted great. Udon was nice and smooth and I loved how they offer an option of extra noodles at no cost. The broth was amazing. Clear and tangy from the lemons. It is very refreshing on a hot day. What I didn't like was the ginger as I'm not a ginger fan to begin with. I actually didn't know it was ginger until I bit into it. They are the ones used with sushi, but instead of them being pink, they were white/pale colored. I docked off a star because the utensils were a nightmare. They only had plastic forks and a spoon that couldn't even hold much soup. Where are the chopsticks??? I had the hardest time trying to eat udon with a fork and a useless spoon that it ruined the experience and quality of food. Please buy some chopsticks...
Located in Union Market as the first stall you see upon walking in from the parking lot just across the street, Roba Noodle looks like an unassuming noodle/rice bowl place. However, the menu itself and the quality of the food absolutely take your breath away and leave you speechless as you keep going for bite after bite: the food is just that good! I will admit that on this Labor Day (09/05/22) the service was slow, but it was a one-man show running the stall! I never got his name, but whoever you are, you were so kind and courteous and your cooking was absolutely delicious! Now on to the food. My choices for this stop were the Uni Noodles, the Prime Ribeye Skewer, and the Pork Belly Skewer. My friend got the Uni Bowl, Crunch Shrimp Musubi, and the Shishito Peppers Skewer. Uni Noodles: The sauce itself is creamy, but light, with a savory garlicy flavor that cuts the creaminess of the uni: it all pairs beautifully with the hint of freshness from the dry Shiso, and it all comes with Udon noodles that are chewy and pair wonderfully with the sauce. The first bite is delicious, but every bite becomes increasingly more-so as the udon sits and absorbs the flavors of the garlic suace. Prime Ribeye Skewer: Soft, melt-in-your-mouth beef that has the slightest bit of fat to let you further taste the pure beefiness of a Ribeye. While this may sound a little strange, for the price you pay, you get to taste fantastic quality beef in an easy, pull-apart skewer. Pork Belly Skewer: You can never go wrong with Pork Belly! There 's just the slightest hint of a marinade on the Pork Belly that compliments how easily Pork Belly absorbs the flavors its introduced to. Definitely a must-try, especially if you 're a pork belly fan. And just like the Prime Ribeye skewer, the stick was covered bottom to top with meat! I couldn 't grab onto it easily just because the skewer was so generous! Unagi Bowl: I tried a little bit of my friend 's Unagi Bowl, and needless to say it was one of the best bites of Unagi I 've had in a long while. The rice was fluffy and coated with unagi sauce, while the Unagi itself had a slight char to it that paired deliciously with the sweet-savoriness of the sauce and the Unagi 's own buttery, delicate meat. The Unagi to Rice ratio was fantastic, too: we had more Unagi than Rice, and my friend is no rookie when it comes to eating with a good meat-to-rice ratio in each spoonfull! Cruch Shrimp Musubi: A slight sweetness from the imitation crab and the shrimp, with the crunchy tempura coating all covered in a mouth-watering sauce and sandwiched between white rice, held together with Nori. It was difficult for us not to inhale each half on the plate as we took our bites: the textures blended together beautifully and the flavors were so easy to identify, but worked together like a perfect team. Shishito Peppers Skewer: A simple skewer of Japanese peppers, the Shishito Pepper Skewer is a must-buy for anyone getting the Unagi Bowl or the Uni Noodles. Despite their name, the Shishito Peppers are not too spicy, and provide a nice bitterness that cuts through the savoriness of both the Uni Noodles and the Unagi Bowl without overpowering the flavors of each main dish. Instead, it compliments and enhances the umami factor for both dishes, and it also pairs beautifully when you take a bite of Shishito Pepper and follow it up with a bite of the protein skewers! Overall for the price you pay, you get fantastic quality food and a fun experience where you can share bites with friends. Alone or with company, I would definitely recommend Roba Noodle to anyone looking for a bite to eat at Union Market in The District at Tustin.
Uni noodles is so yummy at this place. Follow me! Highlights of the menu: 1. Uni noodles with beef mushroom skewer combo I love uni and this place nailed it on uni noodles. Sooo good! The uni flavor is a lot in the sauce and I love it. Beef skewer is so tender and mushroom skewer is super good! The combo is included with a drink, which I picked green tea. Yummy meal and convenient location. I definitely will order this more in the future.
