Monterey's Little Mexico - Tulsa

We visited the restaurant after the lunch rush, and it was relatively quiet with just a few other diners. The food was decent, though not particularly remarkable. The server was friendly and attentive, and our meals arrived quickly. It wasn't very clear from the menu or elsewhere, but they do offer beer and other alcoholic beverages as well.

I've been enjoying Mexican food at this location since 1992, back when it was a Monterey House similar to those in Houston, where I moved from. Things haven't changed much over the years. I'm planning to go there again later today.

Every visit to this restaurant brings great food, which I truly appreciate. However, I must sadly mention that during my last three visits, the service has been lacking. I ordered an appetizer, drinks, and dinner for two, but we didn’t receive our drinks or appetizer until our main course arrived, meaning everything came at once. I felt for the young waitress, and I hope she finds a way to improve and decides to stick around. They really need to recruit and retain excellent waitstaff to match the quality of the wonderful food they serve.

Updated review on 2/2/24. We always get seated in the same booth! Lol its great. Almost every time, and i honestly mean at least 98.9% of the times we have gone, and we frequent the establishment, we are always seated in the same booth no matter how many people are in the restaurant. I hope i didn't jinx it by posting this, but i had to say something as its just too wild. We do frequent the place, but recently its been a bit more sporadic. So its just wild to have it continuously be our table no mater what. for a while, when we were going the moat often, I specifically requested another booth, just for sensory issues when there was a lot going on for me to be able to process. They always sat us where we want. All but 3 times we have gone over the past 4 years, that we didn't ask for a specific spot, its always randomly and wonderously been that same booth we sat at the first dinner date there togethe.

I got the Texas burrito. It was excellent. With tip and drink I did pay about $25 which is pricey for a burrito.
