Chimi's Mexican Food - Tulsa

The food was served hot, fresh, and delicious. The server was excellent. It would have been a perfect 5, but the restaurant was quite cold. I usually understand that the staff is busy working, but it was uncomfortably chilly—even our server was wearing a jacket. Nonetheless, the food was really good.

I've gotten the border enchiladas and the street tacos with chorizo and carne asada. Both have been fantastic. I also get double beans, and they are usually great, but they're more inconsistent than the other items. Overall, great food.

The service was good, the order was very disappointing. I ordered shrimp ceviche, and what came out was what appeared to be lumps of normally cooked shrimp, sitting on top of pico de gallo, topped with cilantro and avocado. The portion size was good, but it had none of the essence of what ceviche is supposed to be. Lime should transition the shrimp from raw to cooked. The ingredients should be mixed together, not layered so that my ultimate dish was flavorless. If you want good, cheap, authentic ceviche cooked properly, go down to La Cevicheria on Mingo. The server was good, and the manager did agree to take the dish off my bill. When she came over, she asked what was wrong with the dish and I explained what I said here, and her response was Oh, so it was just missing the lime? As if the lime was just a garnish slice that one gets with a shot of tequila. Lime is an essential ingredient...there should be at least a cup of lime juice in a normal recipe, not just a splash : . I get messing up a dish...but seeming to not understand what went wrong or minimizing the error is a different story. Profiting off of Mexican culture without the executing the dishes correctly is disappointing.
