Enjoyed the filet and sides. The wait staff was entertaining but didn't seem to be be quite in sync. It was an early weekday dinner.
The serving sizes for bowl of soup and wedge salad are giant. The lobster bisque was very good, the wedge salad had very green crisp lettuce, nice amount of crisp bacon and perhaps too much blue cheese pieces. Glass of 14 Hands Merlot, decent amount of wine for $10. Great food. With tip, $36 The but is understaffed waitstaff and hostess. This restaurant is located inside the Embassy Suites hotel. Not very many diners, so establishment seems to have decided to only have one waitperson. And no hostess, at least on weekdays. Many diners walked in as if it was seat yourself because no one was at the entrance to seat you. Also, the poor waitperson was running ragged as we were spaced just far enough of arriving, that there was always one or more table waiting for something. The other point of discontent, this type of menu should be accompanied with awesome warm baguette and butter. They don 't serve bread unless requested. I asked, and quickly understood why they don 't just serve it, it is nothing more exciting than dinner rolls you would buy in the supermarkets bread aisle. I 'm staying at the Embassy Suites several days, I asked how the short ribs were. They sound really good, so I may try them out later in the stay. Update a few days later I returned and ordered the French Onion soup. It was ok. I 'm accustomed to having the top of the soup being covered with melted cheese. They prepare French Onion Soup with just a crostini and a small amount of cheese. If you are ordering soup, I recommend the lobster bisque, far superior than the onion soup.
Lamb Fries. I would return just for these fried lamb testicles, served with cocktail sauce and lemon; better than oysters! On rare occasions this is what I need: What you see is what you get; old fashioned simple cooking served by experienced, up selling, friendly staff, staged in a rundown restaurant in the city stockyard. I got sautéed mushrooms on the side of my steak salad order. Why? Just because the waitress asked if I wanted them! Went surprisingly well with the grapefruit-sized yeast roll that came with salad
Every place we ate during this trip has been fantastic and Cyrus delivers excellent food and service. We watched the Dodgers win while sitting in the bar and after the game we were ready to eat. They were nice enough to serve us in the bar area as the sitting section was full. Four of us shared 3 shrimp cocktails (generous 8 pieces of Shrimp each order , a bigger than expected Cesar Salad, an order of Crab Cakes, Grilled Asparagus and Sautéed Wild Mushrooms. Everything was fantastic and we can't pick a favorite. Casey was an excellent server and had a great sense of humor. We would eat here again! Thanks! And Go a Dodgers. :
