Shogun Japanese - Tucson

The sushi is good, but the service leaves much to be desired. They close at 9:00 PM, and we arrived at 8:15 PM only to be turned away. The staff said that the last call was at 8:30 PM, yet we were still refused service despite being a party of three and knowing exactly what we wanted to order. It made no sense for her to say the last call was at 8:30 PM and then not accommodate us. There were no other customers waiting either. This isn’t the first time we’ve experienced this. We thought arriving at 8:15 PM would be fine, but it was very disappointing. I wonder if the owners are aware that they’re turning people away 45 minutes before closing—it's quite striking!

The dining experience was excellent, and the staff were top-notch. The waterfall creates a beautiful ambiance for the escape. Pictured are just 2 of the 5 rolls we tried. The Mexicali was the standout—it was so good that we ordered a second roll. We will definitely be returning!

Once the food arrived, no one came to check on us, and we waited a long time from when the food was served until we were able to pay. My partner wanted a refill on their soda, but we never saw anyone come back to help us. The most disappointing part was the cleanliness of the restaurant; the tables and walls were definitely not sanitary. I would rate this place one star simply because the food was acceptable, but overall, it was a disappointing experience.

Great sushi, fantastic interior/decor, love the private stands. Sushi reels were surprisingly bigger than what I am used to, which is super, sushi in this case not cheap, the price was more than fair. a bit slow to get the food, but no problem with me there, since the place was very busy as soon as it opened. 100% return.

Portion to price is fine if you want bargain sushi, but you definitely get what you pay for. Fish is not fresh at all, very low quality of all the sushi places in Tucson. They had toro on special so I got it to try on 2 different visits, got sick both times. The fish was overly fishy, dark and hard to chew apart, didn't have any melt in your mouth buttery texture like you would expect from fresh toro at all. I wanted to like this place because my friends like to go for beer and they have private booths which is great for groups. Other than that, if you are looking for good and fresh sushi, I wouldnt recommend.
