Cafe Desta - Tucson

My family adores Cafe Desta, particularly for special occasions like birthdays! There’s something so enjoyable about sharing our meals "family style" from a big platter. As the only vegan in my family, we opt for "The Works" to satisfy everyone. Every dish is packed with flavor and quite filling. My top picks are the gomen, fosolia, and misir! They always provide a generous amount of injera, but we also like to add a side of the thick ambasha bread. There’s always plenty left over for later!

The restaurant offers an incredible and delicious dining experience, with a beautiful ambiance. They have a variety of vegetarian and gluten-free options, as well as tempting desserts. The restroom is also very nice.

I was apprehensive about trying Ethiopian cuisine because I have some textural sensitivities and wasn’t familiar with how it’s prepared. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing textures of the food. The spices were perfectly balanced, delivering a burst of flavor with every bite! Although some of my friends aren't fans of injera (the traditional bread), I found it quite enjoyable, especially when paired with the delicious vegetables. The restaurant itself is quiet and clean, creating a nice atmosphere. The host, who also seemed to be the chef, was very helpful and took the time to teach me how to pronounce the names of the dishes I was unfamiliar with. I really wish I had tried this cuisine sooner, and I will definitely be returning!

Food is awesome! The lunch special at $11 is more than worth it, and my favorite go-to are the spicy lamb and fish. The chickpea is also really good. I'll keep coming back

Cute little modern place with a good atmosphere. Absolutely delicious food and friendly and fast service. Had the combo for two which allows to sample a good selection of their dishes all were great!
