Contribuiți la feedbackThis is my go-to restaurant for Chinese food now. I particularly enjoy the Almond Boneless Chicken. The dinner comes with three chicken breast pieces, chicken fried rice, an egg roll, and gravy, all for about $11.00.
When I moved to Troy, I explored nearly every Chinese restaurant in search of one that could match the quality of my hometown favorites. To my surprise, Hong Kong Express turned out to be even better! The almond boneless chicken is consistently hot and crispy, providing a delightful crunch. The fried rice has the perfect texture and flavor, while the lo mein—especially with roast pork—is incredibly tasty. Their crab Rangoon is crispy and packed with filling, and they don’t hold back on the egg drop soup, which always has just the right balance of broth to eggs. The egg rolls and spring rolls are generously sized and so flavorful that they don’t even need sauce. Everything here is amazing, but those are my top picks. The portions are massive for the price too; for just $3, you could easily feed two very hungry people for days! (I can say that from personal experience, haha). The staff is always so friendly as well! I would be heartbroken if I ever had to move again and find a place that comes close to Hong Kong Express!
I have visited at least seven other Chinese restaurants in the area, and this one is my favorite. They serve large egg rolls, not the small ones, and the portion sizes are generous.
The dumplings were available both fried and steamed; I sampled both and they were fantastic, especially when paired with the little spicy sauce provided. As a few other reviewers mentioned, this is one of those places where you’ll finish a plate feeling completely stuffed and yet find yourself hungry again by midnight. Honestly, that’s exactly how I like my Chinese food. The staff was friendly and adhered to social distancing protocols. I look forward to exploring more of the menu and making this a regular spot for me. Yes, the decor might be a bit outdated, but if you’re really concerned about a restaurant’s aesthetics over the quality of the food, you might as well head to the frozen food aisle at the grocery store. Let’s be real, okay? Oh, and the fortune cookies were nice and crunchy—not stale at all!
This is my favorite restaurant for Chinese cuisine. The egg rolls are enormous, and the Kung Pao is exceptional. I especially love their hot and sour soup!
