Black Rabbit Restaurant Bar - Troutdale

I dined at the Black Rabbit Bar in the restaurant while in town for a concert last night. The food and service were excellent! I had anticipated the usual McMenamins fare, but it turns out that both this location and the Power Station restaurant have updated their menus, which is definitely a positive change.

We discovered that this restaurant is part of the McMenamins brand, which is quite popular in Oregon. There’s also a gift shop where you can find anything you might have forgotten on your journey. As for the food, we ordered the Caramel Apple Waffle, which was enormous and laden with plenty of crispy apples, paired with a wonderfully tart waffle—it was a must-try. We also had the Make Your Own Omelet, which was a large vegetable omelet filled with fresh ingredients and served with stylish potatoes. The Chai Latte was surprisingly delicious; it’s not easy to find a good chai in such a location. The coffee was decent—hot but nothing particularly special. While the menu isn’t extensive, it offers enough variety to satisfy different tastes. Prices are somewhat on the higher side, but the exceptional service and helpful recommendations from the waitstaff made it worthwhile. The ambience and beautiful hotel grounds alone are reason enough to visit, with the delicious food being an added bonus.

I would have ordered the ribbed eye, but the size was not even mentioned and for the price, risky. So the 9 dollar burger tried for 18 dollars. Burger was good, but not so good, Speck really hard. The staff was really nice and friendly and the orders were correct. The high kick for the desert. It was good. To fill breeders and they refused because of the pandemic, but they are ready to sell us new breeders to be filled. SERIOUSLY? You always rinse first and you have no problems touching my money. So, I suppose to buy breeders? Defeats the purpose of being more environmentally friendly by reusing.

When I stood up again, our server finally appeared and took our order, apologizing for the delay. Unfortunately, our burgers arrived before our beers, which would have been nice to have while catching up with my friend as we waited for our food. The burgers were excellent, and the wait for them wasn’t too long. As we ate and chatted, we enjoyed our beers and tried to flag down our server for another round. Eventually, we found her and she promptly brought us more drinks. However, when it came time to pay the bill, our server was hard to find again. This time, my friend took it upon himself to locate her. We settled the bill, but when my friend asked if we could take our drinks outside to enjoy while we smoked cigars, she didn’t have an answer. So, we ended up enjoying our cigars without drinks. In summary, while the food and atmosphere were fantastic, the service left much to be desired. With more attentive service, our experience could have been truly exceptional.

It was my birthday dinner amongst all the couples there for valantines dates. The staff loved it and were great. Was the best not valantines date nite birthday dinner in our 10 years together.
