Contribuiți la feedbackSome comments we read stress a very slow service. It was not true in our case. The service was professional and rapid enough. The only moment we had to wait was when we asked for the bill. The food was very nice, perfectly presented and...served with all necessary explanations. It was a nice experience.
Restaurant is located in a very average hotel. You go through a very very ordinary hallway and find a very nice view of the woods. Restaurant staff at least one server did not know much about the food either in french or English. A second...server was very helpful. Not anticipating a superior and super expensive restaurant in a very ordinary hotel, we found ourselves quite confused and under dressed. Hotel staff had not displayed the pricing at the desk. Still would commend Chef Alain Penot profusely. Will make a point to return if passing by again.
The restaurant offers delicious food, excellent service, and beautiful views. My husband enjoyed a smaller-than-average martini but still liked it. I ordered the pork dish and my husband had the duck entrée, both of which were delicious and catered to my dietary restrictions. It's a great spot for a quiet and romantic evening.
Furthermore, we were surprised to find a credit on our bill for one person in our party, without our prior knowledge or consent. We kindly request that this credit be transferred to the Friday Auberge Front Reception Staff as a gesture of gratitude for their genuine care, compassion, and professionalism. They went above and beyond in assisting us by recommending an open walk-in clinic for our daughter who had arrived with an earache. We sincerely thank them for their help.
Unfortunately I have to write that this restaurant was absolutely terrible. I have no idea how it is getting so many good reviews other than the people eating there have never been anywhere offering exceptional cuisine. We had high hopes when we checked in and...agreed to book a table since there is really no where else to go nearby (We were staying halfway between Montreal and Quebec City). We sent back our dishes at least times. The beet capaccio appetizer was literally raw beets and carrots. That's it. So tough you couldn't eat them. It made me go into a coughing fit. The sweetbread appetizer was not fresh it was really off and sent it back. The lamb chops for the entree were so rare they hadn't even touched the skillet. They also got sent back. The only edible item was the cotton candy sorbet served in between courses. It was all served in a chic looking restaurant on nice square plates but unfortunately that does not supplement for good food. We spent a few hundred dollars too should have driven back to Montreal instead.
