I booked online in advance (about a week) and asked for a table by the window (extended area) because one of our party is partially sighted and obviously by the window has plenty of light. Didn't happen. The food was luke warm. The toilets were in a terrible state. One of the toilets didn't even have a seat! Really poor experience. We left, got to our car, and managed to secure a reservation for dinner in just 20 minutes, with plenty of other times available throughout the evening. Upon our return for our table, we again had to wait before Samuel noticed us. He whispered to a colleague, who eventually came over to assist us. We were then led to a table, which felt ironic after being told the place was fully booked, especially since we passed numerous empty tables along the way. As a family of color, we felt as though we had been subjected to discrimination, and we are unlikely to return to this restaurant after such a negative experience. Notably, the clientele at the time was predominantly Caucasian, making the reason for our initial rejection seem all too clear. I was taken to this restaurant by friends who live nearby this afternoon. The food, when it finally arrived, was excellent. However, the service was exceedingly slow. Since we hadn't made a reservation, we were asked to wait for a table to become available, even though it seemed there was always space in the dining area. It felt like a tactic to encourage us to buy drinks at the bar before lunch. Our order was taken relatively quickly, but then we waited about 45 minutes for our meals to arrive. We couldn't help but notice that the restaurant didn’t appear particularly busy. We also ordered refills for our drinks, which only arrived after we requested them a second time. When we received an apology for the initial delay (only after our meals were served), it didn’t come across as sincere. Lastly, I really wonder why places like this still allow their staff to refer to customers as "guys."
