Contribuiți la feedbackWe arrived at 5:30 for a family Thanksgiving dinner. The dining room was empty and the menu was presented only in French without prices. The server had no information about the soup or salad of the day. Our requests for cocktails were ignored. Our orders were finally taken, but the main course took 90 minutes to arrive. The soup was subpar and the ravioli was average. We had to ask for water refills. After three hours, we left because our dessert order still hadn't been taken. The dining room only had two young and inexperienced servers.
After being unable to dine at a restaurant for almost 15 months, we finally made reservations at our favorite fine dining establishment for dinner. Despite never being disappointed in the many years we have been patrons, this time was an exception. The prix fixe menu options were disappointing, with the liver and onion dish being subpar compared to what you could get at a local eatery for a lower price. My wife's trout was small and dry, overcooked beyond enjoyment. My pork fillet was also dry and overcooked, making it difficult to cut with a knife. However, the salad was tasty and the service was good. It's unfortunate that we will have to reconsider this restaurant as one of our top choices in the future.
The brunch at this restaurant was excellent but a bit expensive. We went for the Mother's Day brunch in the spring and the spread was absolutely divine. The variety and quality of the food was top-notch. Last Sunday, although it was still great, there were fewer changes, probably due to fewer customers. Nevertheless, the food was still great and the staff was wonderful. Special thanks to Anthony and Denise for their kindness and attention.
This is not so much an evaluation of the restaurant, but more about the hotel (as well as the food). Together with another couple, we decided to hand over New Year's Eve at this hotel. The location is in the remote landscape of Quebec, not terrible... far from Montreal. The ambience is fantastic. The reception was warm and gracious. Our rooms were very spacious. The bed was one of the best we ever experienced in a hotel. The view from our window was beautiful with everything that was covered in a heavy snow blanket. They have given a special meal for the occasion, accompanied by a live band playing dance music. The food was mixed. The main courses were conducted by three appetizers who were good (Mushroom soup was especially good). I had venison filet; it was cooked for perfection and delicious. My wife had scallops and cod as well as my friend's wife. Not so good. Your husband had a duckbeat, which he declared delicious. The dessert was a fabulous hot chocolate mousse. The next morning they served a brunch that was great. So many ways we all have eaten too much! All in all, a wonderful way to pass the holiday. At C$600 per pair we thought the costs were reasonable considering that it included room and board. The Auberge des Gallant would be a beautiful place to visit every season.
The dining is exquisite and the wine list is nice enough. We had the veal and it just melted in your mouth. Very well presented also.
