When I went to unpack the tamales however, I noticed they weren't cooked properly. Leaving bland tamales. If they had been cooked tothe proper level they would've been decent.
Good old fashioned Hot Tamales. Better buy 2 dozen. The coconut cream pies are to die for, they are always fresh and hot. The fried pies are delicious. The store is very clean and the staff friendly. We love to stop there. When my brother in law comein from Georgia he has to stop and get 4 dozen tamales and a pie, and orders 10 dozen to take back to Georgia.
I picked up two dozen delicious tamales and rode my motorcycle there. The little road off of Highway 121 was quite challenging, to say the least. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was very warm and welcoming. If there had been a place to sit and enjoy lunch, or somewhere nearby, it would have been amazing to savor them fresh and hot out of the steamer. I will definitely return if I'm passing by on another ride.
I've been enjoying tamales from this place for over 27 years. Even though I live about an hour away, the drive is definitely worth it. These are the juiciest and best-tasting tamales I've ever had, and I've tried many different varieties. If you get the chance, make sure to stop by and give them a try. It's a friendly, family-owned restaurant, and even if you have to travel a bit, the journey is enjoyable and well worth it.
The tamales here are the best I've ever tasted! The fried pies didn't make it home; I ended up finishing them in the car. Next time, I’ll definitely pre-order a couple of whole pies.
