I dined at this restaurant today on a whim and was very pleased with the experience. I definitely plan on returning in the future, as it is much closer to my home than driving all the way to Aiken.
Unfortunately, there is sad news to report as Lucy has left and the restaurant's owner/husband has decided to close the business. This is heartbreaking news as I really enjoyed this place. They offer delicious seafood dishes and the owners are from a coastal city in Mexico. It is a small, but clean restaurant with generous portion sizes. The only downside is that you cannot enjoy a beer with your meal. I highly recommend trying the Shrek Burrito.
I started with a large Coca Cola in a glass bottle and ordered the ceviche a la tostada to start. The dish was delicious, with fresh fish marinated in citrus and spices, mixed with veggies and served on a crunchy tostada. It was the best version of ceviche I have had since trying it in Miami. Next, my father and I had the Marinated Pork Sandwiches, which were filled with fresh veggies, beans, tender pork, and tangy sauce. I asked for mine to be extra spicy and it was amazing, but be prepared for a messy sandwich! We finished our meal with Flan, a creamy custard dessert with a touch of caramel. It was the perfect end to a flavorful and authentic Mexican meal. I have been back several times but have yet to try the popular tamales, as they always sell out quickly. If you want to try the tamales, make sure to arrive early!
