Auberge Du Tregor - Tréguier

Very reasonable set menu and friendly service. I had the salted cod which is a local dish and was very good. My husband had a steak and the waitress waited for him to taste it and make sure it was right for him before she left!

We booked a table on the strength of the menus on display outside and the fact that it was busy at lunchtime. The welcome was genuine but none of the four of us had what you would call a memorable meal. The portions were on the small side, the sauces and seasoning required improvement. Our choice from the wine list was also disappointing. We all felt that this nice little restaurant required some inspiration and a shake-up in order to justify its current reputation.

We attended the Auberge du Tregor, based on the Trip Advisor rating.We were happy with the meal overall, but one or two elements disappointed slightlyVery polite, formal service, which impressed my 11-year old no end !Wonderful food but I will give one simple piece of advice: You will find all you want on the 19 euro menu. I chose items from the 29 euro menu and it was clear that the rest of my family (partner & 2 children) actually faired better than me. My food was bordering on slightly pretentious or fussy, where the other dishes were universally approved of. Are they trying a little too hard ? Not sure - I would not hesitate to return - but next time eat from the 19 euro menu !

We were lucky to get the last table at lunchtime. All the others were taken, mostly by French speakers, probably locals. Madame greeted us as we entered and immediately showed us to our table. The next couple to arrive without a reservation were turned away. It was only 12:30! The food was just what we wanted. The menu du jour looked very good with different prices depending on the number of courses. The prices were very reasonable and included a pichet of wine. This was to be our main meal of the day so we chose a menu at €19.50. We had fish dishes for our starter and main courses. The food was fresh and attractively presented. I had a traditional Breton apple pudding to follow and my wife had a caramel bavarois with crème anglaise. There was a good selection of soft and alcoholic drinks. A bottle of muscadet was nicely chilled and had lots of flavour. The service was a little slow but the restaurant was very busy. The staff were working very hard. Many of the diners left by 14:00 so I suspect they were locals returning to work. Madame was very friendly and we had a pleasant chat at the end of the meal when it was time to pay. A three course meal for two people with a bottle of wine and coffee was less than €70. The bread basket was refilled when we had eaten the first lot. This was a very agreable lunch in an attractive and friendly restaurant with lots of local diners as well as visitors. We would not hesitate to go back if we find ourselves in Treguier again.
