Raja's Curry House - Townsville

After ordering for a group of us and then calculating the cost we were aggravated by being overcharged. When confronted the female staff member (suspected owner) pulled out a calculator and added the amounts out of our sight so we couldn't discuss the costs.We paid begrudgingly and the group if customers vowed to avoid this place in future.I respect cultural differences however Honesty goes a long way in business.

This is a take away only. The menu is straight forward and easy to follow. The food was excellent and all cooked fresh. No eftpos though

I love Rajas I have been coming here for over 25 years and can't get enough, especially their lamb vindaloo and butter chicken. It is I reckon by far the best Indian in Townsville and I have eaten Indian all over the world. The service is super friendly and its great value - massive meals. I also like their Malaysian and Indo-Caribbean dishes like the coconut rice. The variations on their curries are amazing and you can tell care has been put into making the food its not rushed out the door. I guess being around since 1978 says something.

This is by far the best curry in townsville, very thick rich sauces, more meat which is always tender, choose your own heat from no chilli thru to vindaloo (very hot) for the whole family, care is even taken in the packing of your food neatly in a box, we love having raja's at least once a month and haven't tasted a better curry yet... :-) :-)

I had the butter chicken and butter lamb, the sauce was good, thought it could have done with a few strips of onion or some vegetable pieces... the meats were good cuts except for a couple of dodgy mutton pieces (chalky mush) in the lamb. the rice was a bit on the overdone side, including the coconut rice which was otherwise delicious. the shop opened a bit later than stated.service is friendly enough. i would like to have possibly become a regular, but there are plenty of other indian restaurants to choose from so i'll try another next time.
