S R Kelly Sons - Tower Hamlets

I have been frequenting the same Pie and Mash shop for over 20 years, so I have a high standard to compare others to. I have been on a quest to try out different competitors, and unfortunately, this one is one of the worst I have encountered so far. During lunchtime, the shop was nearly empty except for one regular customer. The staff were friendly enough, but as I dug into the pie, oil seeped out and the crust was tough. The bottom of the pie was soggy and almost raw, with the meat inside forming one unappetizing lump surrounded by greasy gravy. The liquor was bland and had a grayish hue rather than the expected green. The only decent part of the meal was the mash, but even that lacked flavor. The only positive aspect was that the food was served hot. Unfortunately, on the day of my visit, they were out of eels. Despite their sign stating they were established in 1915, I am surprised they have lasted so long serving such subpar food.

Very tasty meal and good price good conversation, as an east ender of 74 years it was nice returning to the east end from Essex where i now live i shared some old photos of the shop and area with the manager will return soon as i can

This was a pleasant experience compared to the shop up the road. The tea was mouth watering,the pie n mash perfect and the lady behind the counter was lovely. Definatly will be returning.

I have eaten here quite a few times, and whilst it’s not my favourite pie and mash, it’s alway rated well. However today was unfortunately my last visit, turned up at 1:30 to be told they had run out of food. Initially I thought that meant a ten to fifteen minute wait, but nope they had actually run out of food, Now if I had turned up ten minutes before they closed, then ok my fault however I got there for 1:30 and they close at 3:30 two hours before they close. Then to confound the issue the chef tells me it’s pot luck whether they run out or not. So having traveled 3 hours for my favourite meal I was left hungry, disappointed and angry. Never again....

I went to get my lunch today and I got 2 pies and a large parsley sauce it come to £5.60 and when I got to work I started to eat the pie and to me it seamed pink inside I asked my collages and they agreed with me, I don't understand why they don't seasoned the pie as there is no taste at all
