Outside diner is nice but the food isn't really great at all. Dishes are all being served the same way and the fish / seafood is for sure not fresh.
Amazing location in an old art deco house with panoramic view over the river. There is also a lawn terrace outside for those interesting in taking an “apéro” before dinner. The menu is set: A starter of 5 very good oysters (we’ve seen that others complain about the presentation, but what really matters are the taste and, or at least we think so), followed by a generous seafood buffet (also at levels of any regular plateau de fruits de mer, except for the langoustines which were a bit soggy). AFTER this you get two mains – well prepared and good fish, rounded up by a dessert, for which you almost don’t have any room left.Points of improvement: You see the kitchen behind the seafood buffet, it would have been nicer not to (it is very well kept, but it sort of drags down the impression of the buffet presentation).
The location is just lovely and the place looks really god. Finding seafood in duck country is hard, finding good one at reasonable price seems impossible. At Le Clapotis we found a 30 euro formula with a huge delicious seafood plate (mussels, claims, shrimps, scampis, crabs and sea snails), your choice of grilled fish of the day (i got a pretty good swordfish) and dessert while eating on a terrace, looking at the Garonne on sundown. Service was good (and definetely above French standards) and white wine pretty delicious. They do not get 5 stars only because their 8 euro mojito is arguably the worst i ever had.
Looking for a seafood resturant in or close to Toulouse we discovered Le Clapotis. Located next to the Garonne the setting is wonderful, being lunchtime in the summer we ate on the terrace overlooking the river, however it looked like the view from the main resturant itself was equally delightful. We had the set lunchtime menu starting with the seafood platter, which was surprisingly large given the reasonable price. The main course was a choice of either bass or sardines, both of which were well presented and delicious. Although the dessert menu was limited the mango panacotta was superb; Yes the wine list is slightly expensive but this is offset by the reasonable set menu price. The service was excellent with both the waiter & waitress making an effort to speak English when we struggled to understand the French. Wonderful location, great food, good service, well worth a visit
